Vader/Anakin's death scene, because you're seeing the death of the most iconic film villain of all time, but it's even more meaningful if you watch the character's whole story with the prequels and TCW. Anakin/Vader is one of my favorite characters, so it's even, even more meaningful.

Is that when Jedi receive a gold watch?

The best deaths are in RoTJ in my opinion. Jabba's death by strangulation (inspired by The Godfather and suggested by Lawrence Kasdan); Yoda peacefully fading away, his purpose in the material world now complete; that poor little Ewok, killed by the explosion and his friend's reaction to it (there is so much in that simple moment that encapsulates what Star Wars is all about); the death of the Emperor, fittingly spectacular for the most evil man in the galaxy; the death of Vader/Anakin and his touching last moments with his son. It's curious how the most uplifting film in the first three films features more prominent deaths than the two films that precede it. In petitioning for Solo to be killed off early on in the film, Harrison Ford said that the ultimate victory should come with some sort of cost. I believe that even without Solo's death, the cost is still quite significant.

In terms of sheer emotion it has to be Vader & his last moments with his son.
Though that A wing pilot gets it for taking out the Executer as that was quite the spectical.

No gold watch for these guys/girls, just placed on a pyre & sent into ghostly existence, Han was right in his quote.

Any love out there for Garven Dreis (aka Red Leader)?

He leads a fighter squadron against a super-weapon, runs the gauntlet that is the Death Star Trench, fires the proton torpedoes that sadly "just impacted on the surface", then tells his remnants of his team to get on and finish the job when he gets shot down. That's a heroic (but sad) death scene right there...

Apart from not belonging here in the first place, this line is just wrong.

I couldn't be surer. Attack of the Clones isn't in the original trilogy. I can't quite believe I have to tell you that but you forced my hand. At least the picture of "the kid holding his helmet" isn't half as bad as I feared it might be.

Scroll up. You're in the Original Trilogy section. Are you really prepared to die a ditch over this?
