Hi people, it has been a while since I last posted. I wanted to post this new thread because I have been contemplating getting a new laptop as of late. I have one currently that is a 15in Dell and runs pretty good. However, for me personally, its too big and bulky. I want something more smaller and lightweight. I have been looking at reviews of other laptops. I used to have a very old MacBook Air that I recently gave to my sister once I got this new Dell laptop. I am now not liking having to have such a big laptop to carry around everywhere.

I have been debating on getting one of the new 2020 MacBook Pros that comes with the fancy touchbar. Only downside, is the price. Is the roughly $1300 for the new MacBook Pro really worth getting to have the new TouchBar? What's the battery life like?

Or would you guys recommend getting something cheaper like a Dell, Asus, or HP? I was contemplating the new 13in HP Pavilion, that looks pretty cool! Anyone who has it, how do you like it being both a tablet and computer?

What other Dell, Asus, HP, MacBook Pro, or other laptop would you guys recommend me getting instead? I can go either way in terms of operating systems. I like both Windows and Apple for different reasons

I have a MacBook Air, which goes for like 800 dollars I think. It's durable and it works well for me.

Eh, mainly more surfing the internet and doing school. Don't think I'll be doing that much gaming on my laptop, maybe a little when I go on vacation and such

In that case, the low power CPU shouldn't be a problem. GET IT!

I also like having a touch screen. Is the new MacBook Air a touch screen? I've also just looked it up and the reviews say the camera is only a 720p, not even 1080. That's kinda a bummer for Apple. Since we're all now doing virtual meetings and such, it would be nice to have a bit nicer camera with better quality

no touch screen but we have an older acer aspire E15......general web surfing and school work. It has an i5 processor and 16G ram , we get an external 1TB hard drive. It has internal 256G SSD. It also has an older GeForce 940mx graphics card so we can play some games too.

Not a touchscreen, and the camera quality is bad. While it does have a lower price, I found it is not suited for intense workloads.

For what it's worth, I bought an ASUS VivoBook 14 about a year ago. It set me back some $600 in Norwegian money, but I have no idea what it would cost elsewhere (although it would probably a bit less than it is here). Thus far, it has been a complete piece of poodoo...

Perhaps it is just this particular specimen, but my laptop keeps crashing and freezing and acting up all the time, and I'm getting regular BLUESCREENS again for the first time this... millennium. I use it for writing, internet, and casting YouTube, and this piece of junk can't handle that. (My old Toshiba was poop too, but at least it could handle those things). ASUS sold me waste and I ain't likely to buy another laptop from them in the future. *shrug* ;)

I recommend Hp Envy 13m laptop because The Envy 13's 13.3-inch, 1080p touchscreen display is among the best available in this price range. It isn't 4K or OLED, and it doesn't have a fancy aspect ratio, but the screen nails the basics: it's sharp, bright, and vivid.
