(MODS: My search for a thread that covers this subject matter came up empty - feel free to move this post to an existing thread if applicable)

As I mentioned mentioned a couple times on various threads(here's a recent one: https://thecantina.starwarsnewsnet....o-a-larger-world-a-year-with-star-wars.52176/), I am a recently "converted" Star Wars" super-fan. Where I was always a fringe SW fan before, beginning just a few months before the release of TFA, I became immersed in any and all things having to do with the GFFA. I have never been much of a gamer. but these traiiers and gameplay videos for Battlefront 1 and 2 have me REALLY EXCITED to give them a try. I'll be happy to proceed through in easy mode just to be able to experience them. The quality of everything in those games seems so amazing.

I am planning to buy a PS4 soon, but I haven't played console games in years. I have a PS3, but I only use it for streaming apps and BRD play so far. I want to get warmed up on SW games on my PS3 before jumping up to the PS4. Can you guys/gals give me your thoughts on the best SW PS3 games for this gaming novice to cut his teeth on? Your feedback will be greatly appreciated.

I became a console gamer with the original Xbox; I bought Knights of the Old Republic and became a console gamer ever since. Before then, I used to play DOOM on my PC. I also have a Xbox360 which I played the first Battlefront on, PS3, and PS4. On the PS3 I played Star Wars the Force Unleashed 1 & 2. Pretty good game, not as good as KOTOR but enjoyable. I recently bought Force Unleashed 2 at by local Gamestop for a few bucks (I must have misplaced it when moving), very cheap. I play Battlefront on my PS4 in anticipation for Battlefront 2 coming out this November! I have my PS4 in my living room and xbox 360 and ps3 in the bedroom, if your wondering why I still have all my old consoles.

I see comments/threads/posts all over about KOTOR, so that seems to be a universal favorite. I will get that one and Force Unleashed 1 and 2. Thanks for the feedback!

Last generation (PS3, XBOX360, Wii) may have been the weakest by far for Star Wars fans.

You're probably best off going with backward compatibility. Though, I remember having a lot of fun with Lego Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

So it turns out KOTOR is MS only and may or may not work on Windows 10. So it looks like I'm out of luck there.

Any fans of "The Clone Wars: Republic Heroes"? That one looks good to me in gameplay videos.

I was really disappointed with Battlefront though I hear it got better. I heard that while I was still playing it though and it never did, each update just seemed to make things worse and worse. And on XBOX at least there was a pretty moronic player-base. Plus with no communications it was pretty hard to play the objective-based games or meet people to form-up and play with and the only friend of mine who had it on XBOX returned his after a week. Maybe the new one will be better, I haven't read or watched anything about it because the first game left me none-too-excited. I enjoyed the Lego TFA game more, and I'm not really into those Lego games. So you might check that out.

I rented it from Gamefly years ago, played it for about 30 minutes then popped it back in the mail. I don't really recall much except I was bored and I'm not THAT into the PT era as it is. Though I enjoyed some of the PT games like Pod Racer, TPM on PS1, Obi-Wan on XBOX and it seems like there were 1 or 2 others. I don't think it was just me though, from what I can see it got unfavorable reviews at the time.

Keep in mind that anything prior to 2015's Battlefront is in the Legends category, which means they are not a part of the current canon. With that said, your options for PS3 are actually a bit limited, as there weren't many Star Wars games released for the last console generation. Of these, The Force Unleashed is a good pick, it's sequel... is disappointingly short but decent if you want more of the first.

The Lego Star Wars games, The Complete Saga & III, are very much enjoyable and have a humorous take on the films/clone wars.

Eh. It's incredibly simplistic, and there really isn't much to it in terms of story. It's not really worth the money, if you ask me.

There's a mobile version but I don't recommend it, playing on a touchscreen almost drove me insane after 10 minutes and I'd only made it like 100 feet from where you start. It's one of my favorite games ever but it's not really for everybody. It's an RPG with turn based combat that works similar to a pen and paper RPG except the computer is rolling the dice. There's a lot of story/talking, puzzles and the usual RPG stuff that some people hate. I've talked to some people (usually they were bigger gamers than Star Wars fans) who weren't crazy about it. Including one very animated Game Stop clerk who gave me his long review and complained about the combat and wanted to just go slashing around with a lightsaber. I'm guessing he enjoyed Force Unleashed a lot. I did also, the first game is awesome but the second was a little disappointing. Unlike KOTOR it's the kind of game you can just turn on and start kicking butt.

I enjoy any of the Star Wars Lego games....I find them even better when you play with a friend. TFU was a very enjoyable game and I recommend it greatly.

As far was the future and current Gen systems. I enjoyed Battlefront and played it but have since moved on to other games. Limited gaming time requires decisions to be made. I'm excited for the new Battlefront 2 coming out and I am foaming at the mouth for future news and videos of the Open World Star Wars game they are talking about releasing in 2018. My understanding is it will have a story line and then side missions similar to GTA or Fallout.
