Which would be still a financial success. ;D

Kylo didn't kill Leia, he even tried to save her after she was blown into the spacd. He was showing something too. Haha!

That Piett was not lying or incompetent and since he was connected to Luke that desperation went to jubilant surprise in a heartbeat and they were gone.

No punishment was due, Piett didn't fail nor did his men. The hyperdrive was deactivated as ordered.

You know . . . even if Kylo Ren finds redemption, I've realized that I just wouldn't give a damn. This would just confirm my own suspicion that he is basically a second-rate re-hash of the Anakin Skywalker character. Poor Adam Driver . . . to be stuck with a character like this.

Maybe this will help people? xD

    redemption
    1. the action of saving or being saved from sin, error, or evil.

    2. the action of regaining or gaining possession of something in exchange for payment, or clearing a debt.
=> what will Ren's exchange be?

In the OT, Luke wanted to save his father, and we the audience were rooting for Luke. This is why Vader's redemption was agreeable/acceptable to the audience despite the evil acts committed by Vader. For Kylo, on the other hand, at the end of TLJ we don't have any of the "good guys" wanting to save him. Rey "close the MF door" on Kylo. Even Leia had given up, telling Luke that her son was gone.

Another difference is that Vader had a big external obstacle to his redemption, mainly that the emperor was still alive and could make Vader pay a price (ultimately Vader's life) for going back to the light side. In the ST, however, Snoke was dead. So if Kylo woked up one day and decided to go back to the light side, no one in the First Order (that we have seen so far) could stop him. It could make Kylo's redemption somewhat 'unearned" so to speak.

It means that Episode 9 has a lot of set-up to do in order for Kylo's redemption to feel earned and not just a plot convenience.

I disagree. Kylo’s redemption arc is a clear (though not absolute) possibility in his character development. It has zero to do with who of the other characters wishes him saved. The important thing is that the audience is rooting for Kylo and wonder about his fate and his possible redemption. In the OT nobody really gave a toss about Vader. We were just happy he assisted Luke and made Luke a hero, happy days.

Some may disagree with Kylo being redeemed, but his turning to the light and consequent “saving” would be a logical progression according to what has been shown in the two previous films. I do agree that time needs to be spent exploring this particular redemption arc but mainly for the audience to savour its nuance rather than to find it more convincing than it already is.

Rey closed the door on Kylo, yes. But only because she wants Ben Solo and not Kylo Ren!

And Luke gave her hope again with "No one is ever really gone."

I think one reason of Kylo's turn will be Hux's betrayal. So...

I think he will be redeemed. He will make a choice that saves Rey's life, but ultimately kills him.

The emperor wasn't properly introduced until Return of the jedi, so my guess is that the Knights of Ren will be the big bad of EpIX.

    This is a strong possibility.

So is him dying with his plans falling down around his head even with his immense reckless chaotic power can't fix.

So is Rey having to take him down. Reluctantly and tragically.

The possibility of redemption is not a guarantee of it.

The idea that Kylo is a copy of Vader is ridiculous. They knew no villain would be able to clear Vader's shadow so they created an imperfect tragic failure who was trying to live up to Vader. Yet unlike Vader for all of his single minded focus. That twisted love who would crush the galaxy to save one woman from death was a defining core of Vader. Kylo is torn apart by rage, fear, impotence and so on. Of course he regrets his actions but like many he continues to double down rather than turn things around. He is a beautify complex anger storm. His failure of calculation the inverse mirror of Rey "I will defy my master and the other student will turn sides and join me. Both banked it all that they would stay united in purpose. Nope. For all of Kylo's flaws he did something Vader never did. Threw off his master and now rules the Galaxy.
