I think that Vader is the one kneeling. As to why he had a hood on, I think they may have shot the scene once with a hood on so they could include it in the trailer, in the movie itll just be Vader with his helmet as usual.

 

I'm wondering; a lot has been made about the figure kneeling, but it looks to me like they might just be stepping down some stairs.
Does anyone else see this, or am I crazy?

 

I'm thinking possibly Vader, reporting to the Emperor. Giving us a cameo.

 

Too imposing to be Sheev, not imposing enough to to be Vader, physically speaking. And I don't see anyone going down steps in that room. Its Star Wars, they have turbo lifts in Imperial buildings. Steps are for Opera houses, Jedi Temples, old office buildings, & slave quarters on Tatooine. Only the throne room and Death Star observation tower get stairs. Carbon freezing chambers don't count.

 

@Lord of the Rens I have second guessed Vader myself. Im not sure if the shoulder width would match his Stature and armor. The Emperor's throne in ROTJ had stairs in them tho.

 

I REALLY want to know who this is. I mean, I'm confident in the actor portraying this character (Mads Mikkelsen is the only one of the main cast which doesn't appear in the trailer anywhere else). But, which character? I voted for Inquisitor because, like some have mentioned, if a brand new, full-on Sith Lord appears just for this film, it would diminish Vader's participation in the story, IMO. I'd rather have him and the Emperor with a dark side "agent" under their wings for the first act or two of the movie, before Vader appears to wreck the hell out of the Rebels mission!

 

What about Snoke?

 

He doesn't look like he's had his ass kicked enough, to be Snoke. Plus, this guy isn't skinny like a crackhead either, so Sidous would have to fry alot of fat off that dude to make him look like Snoke. If this is a shot before the great beatdown.

 

Of course before the beat down, duh! Snoke could have taken quit a few forms before we see him in TFA. But, I'm sure if you're a plaguesis enthusiast, it's much more plausible the he returns from the dead as opposed to haveing a known living character take on another persona!

Just like I said before, I think he's Galen Marek, Darth Vader's apprentice.

 

With Kanan slowly turning into rapidly becoming just like General Kota in Rebels, you might be onto something.

 

The emperor isn't going to be bowing to anyone folks.

IF that's the emperor the only reason I can see him bowing would be to a sacred object or artifact which wouldn't make a lot of sense considering the context of the movie isn't about sith or secret apprentices.

It could be Vader in a cloak, or an inquisitor (I really hope not) or it could simply be an imperial officer (probably mendelson) wearing something different, perhaps a disguise or before a promotion to the white uniform.

 

That's an interesting take. I kinda of hope so.

But why not just include Vader in the trailer seen from behind? Why not take advantage of the nerd frenzy that would erupt?

 

They want to save their marketing capital for the second or third trailer.

 

I feel like we aren't going to know until the movie hits theaters but I think by the time rebels season 3 hits screesn we should be getting closer to getting hints on who that is.

 

Just watch...he holds Plageuis's dead body frozen and floating in that tube thing just like Kylo aren't and Vader's burnt helmet.
