On a mission Sabine runs into an old acquaintance.

    The Good:
*Ezra's analysis of Sabine's nature seems to be spot on from what we've seen of her.
("You were a bounty hunter? That explains a lot.")
    *Dynamic entrance of Ketsu
*The western showdown...and it's subverted until it becomes a shootout.
    *Star Tours!?!
    *Chopper...IN SPACE!
    *Poor robot ship captain!
*R2D2!! Great cameo! And that "talk" with Chopper was short and sweet.
*Another interesting character in the show!

    The Bad:
    *Sabine just leaving Ezra
Understandable for backstory purposes, but it's a cruel move on her part. It better come back to bite them.
*And Ezra's return. sure Hera rescued him, but still..

    The...interesting:
    *Sabine's very filled past
It's not a bad thing in and of itself, just an observation
Sabine wanted to join Black Sun? That's new.
    Ketsu left her for dead?!
    *Ezra's crush and awkwardness return.

I agree. I can't help but think we'd have been better off not having Ezra in this episode. I felt like last weeks' episode would have been better if Hera went on that mission alone. Maybe the writers are too hesitant to give people their own episode.

The big negative that stood out to me was.....Ketsu spray painting her sign on the wall. What type of bounty hunter would want to tag their presence? I'm about to sleep, but will give more thoughts tomorrow if any come to me.

This was a markedly better episode than Wings of the Master (in my opinion), which - while raising as many questions about Sabine as it gives us answers - pulls the veil back on our favorite Mandalorian ever so slightly.

We know that Sabine broke away (prison break style?) from the Imperial Academy on Mandalore. We now know the tantalizing information that 1) She had help in doing so, in the form of Ketsu, and 2) The pair briefly set out on their own as Bounty Hunters for hire, with an eye of being hired by the Black Sun. Obviously, some baggage occurred along the way in the form of Sabine being abandoned - all of this served to add some more intrigue to Sabine's backstory.

A couple of other strong points on the episode - the action set pieces were excellent (Ketsu's dismantling of the Stormtroopers was painfully wicked), and we got some cameos! R2D2! Rex! (RX-24 from Star Tours)!

The episode wasn't without it's issues, though. The exposition regarding Sabine and Ketsu's past was handled in a fairly ham-handed manner. It's a half-hour episodic directed at younger audiences, I understand, but I'd love to see the show employ some flashbacks to show us a glimpse of our heroes before we caught up with them in "Spark of Rebellion". But the bigger issue from where I sat was Sabine abandoning Ezra! This was especially highlighted by the fact that she refused to leave Chopper to face the music with Ketsu later one. She's willing to stick her neck out and compromise the mission to save Chopper, but she's not willing to turn around to save Ezra from a battalion of Stormtroopers?

Very weird writing choice there. Poor Ezra; he clearly has the hots for Sabine, and that feeling is very clearly not reciprocated.

Anyway - all in all, a decent episode, even if it did have a couple of real head-scratching moments.

I think you perfectly encapsulate what I was going to add, so I'll just comment on these two points.

    1) I super agree. I actually felt really bad for the stormtroopers. They were all like "are you aware that there is a cerfew?" and Ketsu's like "don't interrupt and cold blooded murders the dude." Not everyone in the empire is evil. It was a tad weird that the troopers just kinda brush the fight off like "eh a few of my friends died again today....typical bounty hunters".

    2) If they didn't have that bit about chopper towards the end, I would have found her leaving Ezra to be some forshadowing of Sabine leaving the group for a while, putting something else before the safety of the ghost crew. However, she not only saved chopper, but gave a speech about how great being a rebel is because they all have each others backs ....:S

@alex - your second point is an interesting one, and another thought that just occurred to me was how ironic it was that Sabine just straight up abandoned Ezra, while she was holding a grudge against Ketsu for...straight up abandoning her. Just a very strange part of the episode. I think the episode would have been stronger if Sabine had tackled the mission alone - Ezra really didn't need to be present for any part of it.

Looking at the show as a whole I don't see this as a problem. Sabine knows Ezra. He has been beating storm troopers before he knew about the force. Sabine knows they pose no threat to Ezra. Now go back to the last Inquisitor episode when Ezra was caught she ran back to help and Ezra sealed the door. Inquisitors threat Troopers no threat.

The GNK droid was freakin' hysterical. The entire episode should'a been a comedy.

I think that Ezra was there for exposition purposes. He reminded viewers what Sabine is all about (or introduced her to new viewers) before the episode gave them some more backstory to her.

Two strong female characters that had a history together...

Tumblr is totally gonna make them f***.
I freaking LOVE that droid! My favorite part is when he was trying to hide behind Sabine. That part gave me a good chuckle. :D

My favorite bit was Chopper waving to Sabine from the top of Ketsu's ship, as seen through Kets's hologram.
