With the rumor that this tv show will take place on Mandalore 3 years after the events of RotJ and given the uncertainty surrounding the future of the stand alone films, do you think we may see the reintroduction of Boba Fett in the Star Wars universe? Since Jango was made into just a common bounty hunter during the Mandalore arcs in The Clone Wars, could we possibly see the reintroduction of a Fett into Mandalorian culture?

Yes, please! This would be much more fitting than an own movie. He doesn't need to be a big part of this series, as long as he has some significant role regarding to the story, then I'll be happy.

Agreed. I feel like this would be the perfect avenue for them to reintroduce him and possibly some of the other characters from Rebels/this upcoming season of The Clone Wars while still introducing new characters. If they want a way to draw in the more casual fans to the streaming service what better way than to bring back one of the cooler looking characters.

I know nothing is for sure in the entertainment industry, but I’m almost willing to bet money that Boba Fett will be in this show.

There is enough evidence to me that Boba Fett will be in the show:

    1) his survival of the Sarlaac was highly suggested in the Aftermath novel.
    2) The show is post-ROTJ, which goes in line with my Sarlaac point in # 1
    3) Boba Fett wears Mandolorian armor (even though he’s not one himself)
    4) Fans are demanding his return in some way.
    5) The Josh Trank-Boba Fett film was canceled..... so what are they going to do with the existing work and screenplay?
    6) Every film/show so far has some kind of lifeline to the OT. Since this is post-ROTJ (after the OT has concluded,) one logical lifeline would be Boba Fett, who never appeared in any of the films so far.
    7) Disney knows how to merchandise something well. Boba Fett (and his Mando friends wearing cool gadgets) can sell a lot of toys.

He could very much be a magnet for Disney's Streaming Service. He is undoubtedly one of the most popular Sar Wars characters so it would be logical for it to happen. If so, I hope he'll be one of those characters that doesn't talk much but through his actions shows his power and wit.
But at the end of the day I hope the series will take place long before the prequels :D

If he does return, I want Daniel Logan to reprise his role, show him all scarred from the Sarlaac

Well I hope so, because that might be enough to quench the "Fett Thirst" of the fan-following for his own movie. I was never a big Fett fan, and never quite understood the draw of an incidental bounty hunter in the OT. I've always felt like I've personally gotten my fill of him, especially with his (somewhat) backstory in the PT.

I was a bit disappointed at the reveal that the series will focus on the Mando's...not to say that I won't WATCH it (because IT IS Star Wars), because I will, but like I said, I hope this suffices for his own movie because I think those should be reserved for backstories of the primary players and/or major events.

That's just me...and still excited about the series.

I think he'll make a minor appearance but he won't be a front runner of the show. Maybe on future seasons I could see him be more prominent on the show.

Well, if Favreau's series ends up replacing the Boba Fett standalone, I got the title nearly right (the above post was from last year). Based on the synopsis Favreau put out, I believe the new "gunfighter" is none other than Boba Fett himself. However, I do not think the series would start with Boba getting out of the pit, I think that will come later in the series when it is revealed who the gunfighter truly is. With set photos circulating I thought it curious why there would be a Mos Eisley-like location in a series about Mandalore. The synopsis says "a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy." The Wookieepedia entry for Tatooine begins with "Tatooine was a sparsely inhabited circumbinary desert planet located in the galaxy's Outer Rim Territories." So, maybe Favreau is being coy with the description so as not to reveal too many secrets.

I also recall Favreau saying he has had this story in mind since college, which was the latter half of the 80's. Of course, that was well before George saying Jengo was not a Mandalorian. I think there is a way to have Boba "earn" Mandalorian status.

I’m hoping this will be a show about Jodo Kast (or a Kast replacement) who the audience will not realize is not actually a Mandalorian, they won’t reveal his true background for a long time. Eventually Boba after will return, angry that Kast has been acting as Boba, and will make his way into silencing Kast and become Mandalore. The show will follow Boba Fett from there. But seriously...what are the chances of someone like Kast being brought in from Legends.

It’s possible, but am I the only one leaning towards the lead being slave-turned-sheriff Cobb Vanth (from the Aftermath trilogy) — at least at the beginning of the show?

The polished look of the helmet and damaged armour signals to me that whoever is under the helmet doesn’t want to be outright associated with Boba, but instead something new, and something different. We know from the Aftermath books that Vanth not only acquired the set of armour, but also argued that he required it for his work as a lawman, and to bring law to Tatooine — starting, of course, with Freetown. And that does look like Tatooine.

This, to me, seems a smart approach, as we will still be following something of a protagonist who will more than likely come across the Hutts and other crime lords as he attempts to rid Tatooine of crime, and more than likely, we’d see other bounty hunters too. What’s more, we believe that Boba Fett managed to escape the sarlacc pit, but he no longer has his armour — well, what if, after becoming renowned on Tatooine for his Mandalorian armour and enforcement of law on what was previously a lawless planet, Cobb Vanth is confronted at the very end of the first season by none other than Boba himself? Of course, he would be without his armour, but obscure his face with a Cad Bane-esque hat or a different Mandalorian helmet, and have the first season end on the cliffhanger of having a gun pointed at Vanth’s head, before we hear the figure demand his armour back.

    Hard cut. Cue the finale.

There are so many possibilities, but I think that, at least for the first season, being introduced to the show in this way - with something of an original cast - would be the wise choice. The crazy thing is that’s just one of so many possibilities, but like I said, Cobb Vanth is the character I’m leaning towards being under that helmet for now.
