Booted From TFN Boards after 3-4 Years

I too am a TFN refugee and I had reasons for leaving, but I never saw them as the "worst". What makes you believe so?

I left due to moderation practices as well. I'll leave it at that though, I don't wanna get into stirring up drama that could only evolve into negative things. The mods here are very fair. I have been edited once or twice and have had some things deleted, but it was warranted and fair.

 

I was once too. But that's been many a year back ... 2004 ?
The group I was in was 'round my area (Western Penna.), internal disagreements is what put me out. Never went lookin' fer another group bout also at that time, I was in the Legion an' they have their own messagin'.
Then I got outta that an' went ta see what was what with TF.N. By that time it had completely disintegrated.

A side note: the Podcast, the ForceCast is back. And it's Good.

 

I join TFN october 11 and left today never going back because of the mods

 

I had over 10,000 posts there so it wasn't fun to leave, but the community here made it an easy transition when I came over full-time.

I have gone to The Force.net and the Jedi council forums and found it to be alright, then I found this site a couple of years ago and everything about SWNN made me prefer this place. I will say the Jedi council forums had a more active and helpful section as far as preparing for Star Wars Celebration. In my mind The Force.net = Coruscant and SWNN = Tatooine.

 

As a devout SW fan Theforce.net was my first home but I had to walk on egg shells there... here is really home

 

I was over there for a short time a long while ago and it wasn't a good experience, but welcome to the Cantina.

 

I was banned from there a couple of years ago, for starting an honest discussion about Islam. The mods got their underwear twisted, and told me I was being hateful...in spite of my posts not being malicious.

 

I know the mod are bad there one mod keep delete my post

The mods here are awesome! They are very nice and helpful, and don't attack you for having a different opinion.

They really make The Cantina a fun and awesome place to be.

Wasn't there a huge deal on TFN about Reylo supporters and the mods basically saying "we don't like this" and shutting down all discussion and banning everyone who talked positively about it?

 

I think so yeah. I was PMed several times by one of the mods there to "tone down my negativity" about certain characters and their creators.

You know what I do with threads criticizing my favorites characters? I ignore them.

The "Reylo" threads were by far on the more popular ones (just by the sheer number of posts) and the mods didn't like it- it went against their personal predictions and wishes for The Last Jedi. So they banned all mention of it. It was hilarious and sad at the same time. What made it sadder was that their reason for banning Reylo was that it was silly and anyone who mentioned it was deemed a fangirl and basically treated with condescension and disdain.

The mods were clearly "traditionalists" and they rarely let arguments against Rey being a Skywalker run. So naturally, to them, even the idea of Rey and Kylo having anything but animosity for each other was abhorrent because eww incest. And because the environment was so hostile to anyone who even mentioned Rey and Kylo not being siblings/ cousins/ enemies for life, a lot of people just up and left.

When it started becoming apparent from the marketing and official sources that Rey and Kylo were going to share a "mystical bond" or whatever, they relented a bit. They struck down the ban with the saddest, flimsiest statements I've ever seen. Something to the tune of "Lol, you crazy fangirls can play in our sandbox again even though Reylo is clearly a lie"

I understand why Reylo isn't for everyone and why people might disagree. That's only normal. There's no one theory that is universally accepted except that Jar-Jar Binks is clearly the mastermind behind this whole Saga. But to completely cut out on a section of fandom because you don't think their views are "good" or "legitimate" is pathetic considering we're all talking about a galaxy far far away and about people who don't exist anyone but in the minds of fans.


C'est la vie, I guess.

What's funny is that they call themselves The Jedi Council- a group of narrow-minded fans who are scared of opposing beliefs and change call themselves the Jedi Council.



I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the Cantina mods for being such absolute sweethearts even when the theories go against their personal opinions. You guys are the best and thank you for having us in for an extended SW theme slumber party.
