I got home from work a little early and caught most of this stinker on TNT for the first time in a while. I used to somewhat like it, but it's quite bad. I was laughing so hard at it. Several parts were cracking me up: Sam Jackson and Natalie Portman's awful performances, the Gungans' idiocy and way they speak, Jar Jar, Anakin flying a ship, this guy's face when he cheers the Trade Fed. ship blowing up, the dreadfully boring senate and Jedi Council scenes, "Yippee!", "Now this is pod racing!" Most of the movie has this dopey child-like tone to it.

Sad part is that it's still the best prequel (episodes 2 and 3 are terrible). Not only does it have the best lightsaber fights, it's the only prequel with fights that are worth a damn. Darth Maul says virtually nothing and manages to be better than mostly every other villain in the entire trilogy. It's got the best effects of the prequel trilogy. Liam Neeson isn't great, but one of the better prequel characters. Palpatine was great before he became a cartoon in the last one.

Which part? That this is the best one despite being a bad movie? That the other two are awful? I would actually legitimately love for you should try to explain why they aren't. That Darth Maul is probably the best thing about the entire trilogy? I actually think that, despite being a joke, your reply lend itself to an actual conversation more than the others.

    Someone didn't like TPM?

Stop the presses, we've got a take so hot that it ranks over Bhut Jolokia on the Scoville scale!

You prequel fans are a strange bunch. Perhaps I should have led with, "The last Jedi sucks" to break the ice? You know, a sacrificial lamb to the altar of George Lucas so that I might be deemed worthy of an actual conversation on the topic?

    Nah, I enjoyed TLJ.

And I'm definitely not a prequel apologist.

It's just... what conversation is yet to be had about criticisms of TPM? Almost any conversation it (even here, on a site full of fans) generally at least orbits the idea that it is a subpar film in the franchise, if not fully immerses in that conversation.

The same could be said for the entire franchise. We should probably just close this site down and all go home.

And since I'm feeling nitpicky, I actually said it was the best "film" in the trilogy.

There actually is a pepper that is hotter than the Bhut Jolokia (and the Trinidad moruga scorpion). It’s called a Carolina Reaper and it hits 1.5 million on the Scoville scale.

And frankly I’d rather talk about peppers than rehash trying to defend the PT. I like the PT. I don’t have an obligation to justify this opinion. And everyone else has a right to like or dislike it, but it is not my responsibility to try to change your mind, and you need to recognize my right to an opinion just as I have recognized yours. :)

Right- I've had both and oh man they're rough. I just have been going through some Ghost Pepper sauce lately, so it's been on the mind. :)

I actually enjoy it quite well. The Podracing scene always gets my blood flowing even though I know exactly what’s going to happen every single time.

Of course it does. We've known that for 19 years now. The only people who hilariously attempt to defend its ridiculousness are millennials who saw it as kids when they didn't know any better.

Ah yes, now we can check off "'you can't enjoy that movie because you were a kid', while discussing a family franchise" off the bingo card.

Yeah. I wan't responding to you. I was responding to the original post. And why do I need to write "in my opinion?" It should be evident that everything expressed here is someone's opinion. It doesn't need to be stated every time.
