You don't have to write "in my opinion" before everything you post here or anywhere else. That's a fairly basic rule of writing and I sucked at English.
    --- Double Post Merged, May 2, 2018, Original Post Date: May 2, 2018 ---
Not what he said. He said defendant, not enjoy. You can like it all you want, but that doesn't make something a good movie. I'd like the old Dolph Lundgren He-man movie, but I wouldn't say it's a quality film.

Whoever marked this thread as trolling is a Vhlor. There's nothing but legitimate questions in this post. If you can't take criticism of a movie that you like, you should probably get off the Internet.
    --- Double Post Merged, May 2, 2018 ---
This describes most of the prequel friends to be honest. They grew up on the movies, so they automatically think that they are good angle defend them at all cost. I can't tell you how many of them that I have met or spoke to online say that the prequel trilogy is better than the originals; which they call "boring".

It's an acquired skill here, otherwise people use contrived reasoning to argue that what you've said is some kind of gospel....hence "In my opinion".

...and because you think it stinks, doesn't make it a bad movie. This is a two-way street.

    Another two-way street.

Not necessarily. I stood in line for the OT, and while I thought parts of the PT were filled with bad dialogue and clumsy acting, I'll still defend it as the story that we old guys waited to see...Anakins story. Whether it was good or bad is purely subjective (as I said above), and in the end, is the opinion of the viewer...just like you.

As far as the Trolling rating is concerned, you can be certain that it's because of the title...which is YOUR opinion, and by all accounts it paints you as one that's looking for a bar fight by standing on a stool and yelling to everyone that likes the movie how they're wrong. :)

    All right @kuatorises,

If you'd like to criticize TPM, please feel free to either use this thread, or any of the countless identical ones like it. Personally, I'd welcome an actual discussion.

The semantic banter is getting old, though.

I would have wanted to join this topic, but as I like the PT, can I insult the PT bashers the same way these PT bashers seem to insult the PT lovers?
Because anger leads to hate, and hate is not a serious ally on forums... thanks.

    Challenge accepted.
Can you promise you won't write down any insult when you'll speak to a PT lover ?

    Not really true.
The prequels are generally panned by fans and critics alike – and there is proof of the allover the Internet. It's no secret that they garnered mostly negative reviews. That's not an opinion, that's a fact.

You can't say something stinks around here? No wonder society has gone soft.

Speaking of soft, did you really block out/edit the term "prequel lover"? It's in no way profanity or even necessarily an insult.
    --- Double Post Merged, May 3, 2018, Original Post Date: May 3, 2018 ---
I didn't insult anyone in my original post, which is more than can be said for the first several responses to my comment.

I prefer that you don't insult me, being that you have no reason to, but call me a basher all you want. Doesn't bother me. I don't view it as an attack.

Yeah, it's a fact that's an opinion of others.

You can say it all you like, but your opinion doesn't dictate the hypothetical standard...only yours. Are you insulted that someone has disagreed with you?

Nope, wasn't I, but when you start separating people into "Lover" and "Hater" categories instead of "fans", you appear to be waving a battle flag and dancing for a fight.

That could have something to do with the fact that the first five responses to this thread – including yourself – pretty much insinuated that I was a troll or simply dismissed my comment as worth nothing more than a flippiant in response. I didn't insult a single person in my original comment and wasn't exactly afforded the same treatment in response. Hell, my posts are being edited because I dared to use such offensive language as "prequel lover". Yeah, I'm a real heel.

True. And again, a thread about not liking The Phantom Menace is basically on the same par as a thread about how candy bars are a tasty snack.

But I've invited you to present your arguments already. By all means, please do.

I did. It was a few sentences, and a paragraph actually stating that it was your favorite out of the prequels. I was kinda hoping we could continue the discussion past that point. Anything to add, or are we done?

I thought it was a great movie. Ray Park as Darth Maul was superb. Duel of the Fates is a strong contender for the best soundtrack piece in 50 years. Liam Neeson was Oscar worthy. And the fight scene choreography was the most exciting of any of the first six movies.

Your mileage may vary, and obviously does. But please don't be a poodoo and claim your mileage is fact. It really does come across as rude.

Eh, I saw TPM 4 times in the cinema so I liked it. JarJar is the only thing I don't like but don't hate. I like the actor, nice guy that Ahmed Best. He did his best for Lucas. Its a visual film, a wacky space opera, I love those as a kid, Flash Gordon anyone? Oh well Liam was great, Maul was almost as good as Vader, and young OB1 Ewan did a great job, its Star Wars and I love it. I own several copies VHS, DVD, Blu-ray, and some cd version with Lucas commentary.

I grew up with the OT and also love the PT, films are subjective, if you don't like it fine, lets have healthy discussions.:D

Nobody said you couldn't enjoy it because you were kid. The argument was that because you were a kid you overlooked everything stupid, inconsistent, cheesy and badly executed about it. Then, as an adult, you attempt to defend what you liked as a kid by giving a total pass to every cringe-inducing, blatantly terrible aspect of that movie - and that makes you only look like you have absolutely no concept of what constitutes basic quality filmmaking, storytelling, acting and screenwriting.

I fully endorse this post. Yes, in my opinion TPM is 'crap', but still very enjoyable 'crap'. And when compared with AOTC and ROTS, really not that crappy after all. Fun and enjoyable. The best prequel indeed. The most "Star Wars" of the prequels, even though it is centred on a trade dispute. I enjoy ROTS and AOTC as well......though I must confess........I think they're crap and hardly ever watch them anymore. But when I do, I'm sucked in and have fun. I can also completely understand why people love or like the prequel movies. There's nothing wrong with that! I love all Star Wars.................[except episode III :p]

I love TPM, even if it's not an "objectively good" movie. And if you disagree, you can f...ind something else you p...erson of equally valid opinion.

That it is a bad movie or that it is actually the best one of its series (the prequels)?
    --- Double Post Merged, May 4, 2018, Original Post Date: May 4, 2018 ---
This is a totally out statement. I say things similar to this all the time. I have lots of guilty pleasure movies, but I don't pretend that they are quality films.
    --- Double Post Merged, May 4, 2018 ---
You sir, are a gentleman and a scholar.

I used to feel similarly to you about this movie, but I think at this point the only way that I can describe it is that it has a handful of scenes that I like. It's a pretty bad movie, but that being said I do agree with you it easily felt the most Star Wars of all the prequels. The light saber fights were the best in this one and George hadn't gone overboard with the effects yet. The other two are bad looking movies with overly choreographed action to the point that they look more like demonstrations. If the other two didn't look so damn fake and had better duels, I would forgive them for the awful acting.
