Can Jedi’s who have become one with the Force return to physical form?

Force ghosts can interact with the physcal world.

Yoda also knocked Luke’s head with his cane.

This part of the Force has so much potential. An epic Force ghost fight with the Knights of Ren would be awesome.

 

Lucas always had like 10,000 different ideas at a time, but yes, originally there was a point when the idea was to have Obi Wan return.

So, while not canon, there's a bit of a meta-precedence that it's an idea that could at least be considered.

After all, if the Force creates life (like Anakin) I'd imagine it could also reshape it- especially when the being is already "one" with the living Force.

 

I think if JJ's plan is to unite and have closure for all three trilogies in IX, force ghosts could be very present. I would love to see them delve into that realm a little or explore the opposite end of the force ghosts from the dark side. Perhaps the physical and the force realm are more interchangeable than we know.

 

I hope not. I think delving into the after life and trying to explain things will get messy really fast and won't feel natural. No one knows what's beyond the Veil in real life (though there are many beliefs), I don't think this kind of meta-physics in SW will add anything. Keeping it mysterious is the better way to go.

As for Luke coming back, as much as I'd love to see Luke kick some behind, that moment is passed. If he came back, wouldn't everyone want to know what lies beyond? It'll just be uncomfortable.

 

I don't think the Force ghosts can or should be able to fight. I think an in-universe reason for that can be speculated upon. But really, it's about the hero having to be on their own to face the dark side alone. If they don't do that, they don't complete the hero journey. If force ghosts can show up and fight, that cannot happen.

 

One of the original endings for ROTJ had ghost Obi-Wan and Yoda show up to help Luke fight Vader and the Emperor. So, it was certainly considered at one point. Glad it was abandoned though.

The Jedi are presented as being in contrast to the Sith who desire the immediate and want to prolong their existence within the physical world. The Jedi attain immortality by instead divorcing themselves from the material plain and embracing what comes after. Incorporating them too much into the corporeal state sort of tarnishes that concept. I’d personally prefer not.

I don't mind the small interactions that force ghosts have with the world. I think it would be a mistake to have them actually fight. It would be attack of the clones all over again, a lot of Jedi fighting, only it would be ghosts. How would they lose at that point?

Yes, but hear me out on this.

OK here goes. In TFA, Rey is drawn to Anakins sabre. She can fly the MF. She has hand to hand combat skills, she uses the force without any training (mind tricks, etc), which is also shown in TLJ. It is my theory that the Force Ghost of Anakin is inside her. A benign possession, if you will. He is pissed and wants to use her to finish off what he helped create (the remnant forces).

 

If Yoda can crack Luke in the head and force lighting a tree, then yes.

 

Would take a few decades before there's enough Force ghosts in the GFFA though.

They haven't lost their flesh but rather have moved beyond it.
