I don't think so. But I think Lor San Tekka could turn out to be very important in Rey's past.

I also wonder which is more significant. That they left Rey on Jakku, or that they left her with Plutt ???

And I'm thinking that it is Luke who left her there. Or he told her parents to take her there. Does Rey get taken there right after Ren and the KOR kill all Luke's younglings/padawans? Perhaps Luke sensed her Force abilities shortly after they all get killed. He'd make the tough decision for the greater good. Life on Jakku would be miserable, but she has an important role to play, So he took her to Jakku where no one would likely look for her ... ???

    Just some rambling thoughts :)

I'm sure Simon Pegg would over the moon if he could be in all of the new Star Wars films, being the massive fanboy that he is :)

Maybe but would it really be worth it? We have Plutt who's alive and is a character that we all know that was going to be portrayed as a simple bully who was going to get his arm ripped off and at the last minute they chose not to do that vs a character that seemed important yet was just killed and forgotten. What would be the point now of making Lor this very important character if they were just going to off him the way they did? It wouldn't have as much impact on the fans than having Rey find out that Plutt really cared and protected her even if he was a dweeb. Having Rey confront Plutt over this can give us a very emotional scene and it would let us see the blobfish dude in another light much more than if we learned that San Tekka was some super important guy.

Well, I don't know, but Tekka had the map to Ahch-to, so I assume his character was more important than others. I expect him to be reminded in some way.

I would hope so too my friend. For Luke to have trusted him more than he did anybody in his own family really says alot and he couldn't have been just a plain nobody for Luke to trust him so yet I really fear that he won't be mentioned anymore and just forgotten. I would hope not but that's the way I see things playing out. Same with Unkar Plutt.

Plutt and her being left in his care must have something to do with Luke's blue lightsaber too
It was pointed out that the Force back sequence only showed scenes where the blue lightsaber was. Luke had supposedly lost it by then so did Plutt have it and sell it to Maz....

I don't think he has a role moving forward - he could appear in flashbacks, though. I think they re-worked the scenes on Takodana to improve the pace of the story and add more meaning to the force vision that Rey had - they cut the scene where his arm is ripped off (which also implies that he had some sort of tracker on the MF or someone saw the Falcon near the castle and contacted Plutt), and they also changed the confrontation between the troopers and Han/Rey/Chewie to outside the castle before the Resistance arrives. I wish they would have re-shot the exchange outside to include the shoe reference Han made - to clear up how he knew Finn was a "big deal" (of lies) from the moment they met.

You could make a case for writing Plutt into the Han Solo movie, but, again, that would be moving backwards in time. I think he's served his purpose in the ST.
