Completely disappointed. I felt like I was watching 2 or 3 different movies at a time.
    TROS plot is subpar.

I saw TROS earlier today. I can't find the words to describe it, I really can't. I came home, took out all the SW movies I own (all of them), I took a big pair of scissors, and cut them all into little pieces. They're currently in the trash, and it bothers me that they're still in my house. Little SW stuff I own (tiny figurines, lightsabers etc) went into a sealed envelope in my memory box. So when I'm 70, I'll come across them and remember that once upon a time I REALLY loved a story that went to hell. When I have some time to kill, I'll look for all the Disney movies or other products I own, they'll go to the trash too. And if I ever have children, they'll get everything they want but NOT Disney products. No movies, no dolls, nothing that is even remotely related to Disney. None of THAT in my house.
I wish I never watched a SW movie. I wish that I could have ignored them, like so many people do. My disgust towards the absolute abomination I watched today knows no bounds. Yes, I'm irrationally angry because of a movie. But that movie happened to feature my favorite fictional character. I only had ONE. I wish I could express how I really feel about that, but this is a family friendly forum. I'm DONE.

    Talk about a complete overreaction.

This is the most ridiculous and utterly pathetic thing I've ever read.

It stinks that you didn’t like the movie. It is also ok to be upset about it. Not sure why the animosity towards all things Disney. As far as we all know, Lucasfilm has primary control over all things SW, especially the story. If you don’t like the way TROS or the ST in general went then it is Lucasfilm you should be upset at not Disney. Giving up on all of SW because you don’t like the newer content does not make any sense. You can still enjoy the SW content from the past that you enjoyed

Disappointment, devastated, crushed, pissed off.... pick one.

As an "amateur" w/ a big imagination I don't understand how these Hollywood "professionals" managed to pull off such a train wreck.
Maybe I need to sit down w/ J.J and get a Hollywood 101 crash course from him because I don't understand how they all dropped the lightsaber on the Sequel Trilogy. A trilogy fans wanted for 30 years and this is the dud they came up with?!?! No excuse.

I can't believe the Skywalker Saga went out this way and the only person who's weekend was probably worse than mine is George.

    Unreal!

    Cheers, KH

    Third watch reaction:

I don't know if I'm just trying to find a positive in spending nearly $80 on movie tickets in one weekend, but I didn't walk out of the theater feeling nearly as bad as I did on the first or second watch. There's things in here that I still just don't like, at all. And I do think to an extent they massacred TLJ. But... I may be coming around on it. I'm gonna let it marinate a little and then do a full review in one of the spoiler threads.

Well just got back from my second viewing and thankfully it was not my TLJ experience revisited. I enjoyed it even more this time. There were a few things I could nitpick but overall it was a great movie and a fine way to cap off the ST.

You remind me of a good friend of mine. He did the same thing after TPM. Threw out everything, sold some on eBay, and gave me everything he couldn't get rid of. However, he came back somewhat with the good critic reviews of ROTS.

Don't try to convince yourself to like the film with multiple viewings. There's nothing wrong with disliking a film. In a couple of weeks when the excitement and spectacle starts to wane people are gonna wake up and say this films sucks. It happened with TFA: 4 months later Rey is a Mary Sue/remake/rehash of ANH etc...

I enjoyed the TROS, no one can take my happiness or enjoyment away. I love allot of films that people hate or dislike I should say. Films are subjective to each their own. My favorite critic dislikes TROS, and he made some amazing points why he disliked the film, but I still enjoyed myself and he won't change my mind. Even though I watch his show everyday.

I've seen it twice now and I liked it more my 2nd viewing. Way too much to unpack for just one viewing, in my opinion. There is a LOT happening in this film.

I finally was able to go see the movie tonight. I really enjoyed this movie. Having been heavy into the spoilers and knowing basically what was going to happen as each scene went on was a positive. It seems like many are enjoying the film more after repeated viewings and I think that is because they know exactly what was going to happen thus allowing them to relax, take it in and enjoy it more. That is what I was able to do tonight. That being said my 11 year old daughter really loved the movie and she was completely spoiler free. The pace was definitely fast as it did not seem like we were in the theater for 2 hours and 20 minutes and I don’t see that as a bad thing. Especially after the commercials and trailers before the movie felt like an eternity. Overall I think it wrapped everything up fairly well. It wasn’t perfect but I’m not looking for perfect when watching Star Wars.

Don't get me wrong, I still don't love the movie. I know what I dislike about it and I don't think that's ever going to change. But the first two times I saw it I was struggling to find any positives. I was wholly disappointed by pretty much everything. But now I've been able to find some things that I do like, at least enough that I'll be able to contribute to that 10 likes, 10 dislikes thread.

I think it's sort of the opposite of what you said, the leaks put me in a pretty foul mood and I went into my first showing very pessimistic, I expected to not like it. A similar thing happened the second time and it made it even worse. But after taking most of the weekend to let it marinate and seeing it a third time on Sunday evening, that foul mood and pessimism wore off. There's things I can enjoy about it that previously I wasn't letting myself enjoy. I still think it's flawed, there are still things plot-wise that make me roll my eyes so hard I fear they might pop out, and I do still think it's the weakest of the trilogy. None of the negatives have suddenly turned into positives, I've just found that there are things, a pretty good amount of things, to like about it.

Very good movie seen it twice. My only gripe is it felt like it should have been longer as I feel there were scenes missing inbetween that could've helped the movie flow more smoothly. Dem feels JJ. 8/10

Good but not too great on first viewing. Could have been great as a two parter. I imagine.

2nd viewing better than the first in many ways. I found it more emotional 2nd time round - I guess because of the break-neck speed, mind-melt first time round, I was able to take it in and reflect more so on the 2nd viewing.

Is it perfect? No. It's a part of what has been a flawed trilogy. My view was that they got many elements wrong with TFA or rather that they should've set up what happened in TROS earlier on. But considering how Johnson (rightly so in my view) turned the story on its head in TLJ and with the passing of Carrie Fisher, I was astounded at how JJ pulled it off with this film.

    Emotional and satisfying. 9/10.
