Loved this movie so much as a kid. Never found it scary of course but it was cleverly writen, had great acting (even from the children), and an amazing ending. Plus Nicole Kidman is my favorite actress so bonus.
Definitely worth a rewatch after you've seen it ;)

    - 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)
While it's not a film that I can sit and watch again and again, it's an experience I can never forget. Carrying a film's story on its visuals and score rather than dialogue and still creating a quality product was a herculean task, especially for that era. While the technology obviously is different than what the year 2001 really had in store, I find that the film still holds up and doesn't seem dated. (Except for the intermission, no one not named Tarantino still does that!)

    - Minority Report (2002)
My absolute favorite Spielberg film. I would rank this among the best sci-fi films of all time. It tackles a fascinating concept: If you were to know the future, would you be able to prevent your own actions, or would your act of prevention lead to you inadvertently performing what you were initially trying to avoid? On top of the intriguing premise, we also had great performances by Tom Cruise and Max von Sydow. I find this one to be highly underrated in the ocean of Spielberg's work.

    - Good Will Hunting (1998)
I gave this a watch the day before I went off to college. The performances from Matt Damon and the late Robin Williams feel so real and natural. It's the essential story about how an outcast finds his own brilliance.

    - Alien (1978)
While I really liked the sequel Aliens, and I actually enjoyed Prometheus, nothing beats the original. Ridley Scott perfectly merged the genres of sci-fi and horror, and created a product that is one for the ages. The xenomorph's attack on the Nostromo is simply terrifying, and the isolation Ripley feels on the ship is well-conveyed to the audience.

    - The Toy Story Trilogy (1995, 1999, 2010)
I can't differentiate between the three films. They honestly feel like three acts to a 6-hour epic! I used to watch the first one over and over again as a child, so it's been with me for awhile. The great thing about it is that my enjoyment of the film hasn't degraded as I grew up, rather I found more things to enjoy as time went on!

    - The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951)
While it dealt with a very bleak subject (nuclear war), it managed to stay optimistic and not come off as preachy. For some odd reason, I find it to be a real "feel-good" flick.

My list is very sci-fi heavy, as you can see. I guarantee you I will be kicking myself later after realizing some films I forgot, but there's the list in all its glory!

@Light Savior_47 Thank you very much Light! I'd definitely give your post a "like" if I had the ability to! :)

I have seen The Thing, but it's been so long that I don't really remember much of it.

I loved The Last Starfighter! My dad rented that one from Blockbuster when I was a kid, and I happened to be in a phase where I was obsessed with classic arcade games at the time. Seeing it at that time put it in a special place in my heart.

I liked Starman, too. It was a pretty unique role for Bridges. I'll have to give it a rewatch.

Ah, Another movie i watched obsessively as a kid. Probably one of the better horror remakes even though i always viewed it as "mystery with horror undertones" and it has a pretty good RT score of 72% which isnt all that common for a remake. (Dont bother with the sequel though )

Yeah...In the 80's there was a BIG boom for arcade games.I remember playing Pac-Man,Donky Kong,Space Invaders a lot when i was a kid.Did you remember this movie? Is about games too :).

They make a remake of this movie. It was pretty GOOD.

I love the ending of the Starman movie. She was going to have a kid from Starman and Starman give her a blue ball. She ask what is this..."the kid will know what to do with it".I was wondering and waiting for 2 part BUT it NEVER shows :(.

The Original Star Wars Trilogy (1977-1983)- It goes without saying.

Reservoir Dogs (1992)- A very raw and violent crime thriller from Quentin Tarantino. A fantastic filmic experience.

They Live (1988)- My favorite John Carpenter film. A perfect blend of alien sci-fi, thriller, and satire.

The Thing (1982)- John Carpenter's best film, an alien sci-fi horror film with a great cast. Amazing score by Enncio Morricone. Fantastic special-effects and genuinely creepy moments.

No Country For Old Men (2007)- A dark crime thriller, that's beautifully shot by Roger Deakins. It contains perhaps the most terrifying villain of all time.

Zodiac (2007)- An excellent filmic journey about the elusive serial killer during the late 60s and 70s. Great cast, and when watching it you will become enthralled with the case. Even after watching it I guarantee that you will research the case afterwards.

Unforgiven (1992)- Clint Eastwood's epic tale about an old gunslinger trying to escape his dark past. The themes of morality and doing the right thing is what makes me love this western. Quotable lines as well.

The Big Lebowski (1998)- A hilarious kidnap caper with a bum as the lead and his insane Vietnam war vet friend as his foil. The bums always lose!

Blade Runner (1982)- In my opinion, the finest science fiction film ever made.

LA Confidential (1997)- A brilliant crime story set in 1950s LA (love the era). Very reminiscent of Chinatown. Great cast and excellent characters and storytelling.

Flags Of Our Fathers (2006)- The emotional story of the men who raised the American flag on Iwo Jima, and how the famous picture impacted their lives forever.

Swingers (1996)- A hilarious guys movie about heartbreak, and how to pick up the ladies. Very clever and funny.

Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior (1982)- A perfect film. Post- Apocalyptic madness. Great vllain and great hero.

    2. A Fistful of Dollars
    3. For A Few More Dollars
    4. The Empire Strikes Back
    5. When Harry Met Sally
    6. Forrest Gump

Ranking these was hard admittedly, though. As well as I didn't realize until now how many of them include Tom Hanks. Haha

Pretty solid list! Haven't seen 5 or 10 though. As far as the Man With No Name Trilogy (which Jeremy Bulloch cited as the basis for his portrayal Boba Fett) my favorite would be The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. I think I included that in my own top ten list, actually. Forrest Gump's place on the list is also well-deserved, next to A Fistful of Dollars and For a Few Dollars More. The Toy Story movies re also fantastic.

I'm actually surprised to see TPM on your list! I think it's sadly underrated. Qui-Gon (Ben Kenobi's master!), young Obi-Wan, the Jedi Order and Yoda in their prime, seeing the Republic and Senate in full swing... I love all that.

These trailers don't do the films justice to how good they are. I highly recommend them. They're very entertaining. Carrie Fisher happens to be in When Harry Met Sally. I've actually not had the chance to see The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. I certainly need to change that. I think I choose the two I do for the "Get three coffins ready" and locket meaning in the second one. There's something very meaningful and profound about those moments to me. The films happened to inspire George Lucas too, not just Jeremy Bulloch. I missed your list. I'll have to go back and look for it. Certainly. It's a great movie. Relatable in a way. Hopeful in a relatable sense in other ways. They were. It wasn't until recently that I truly began to like Toy Story 3 as much. I think it's because, of how I struggle to let go. It's a good movie.

I think it is too and I agree completely. Don't forget Darth Maul and the podrace. There's many things I enjoy, all of what you included as well as I really enjoy the little things too. Like Anakin's podracer coming to life the first time and the conversation Shimi and Qui-Gon had right before. As well as swimming to Otoh Gunga was truly magical to me. I really could go on but, I will end my comment with saying, John Williams' score was truly amazing in the film. Every cue is simply remarkable.
