TPM? Well, its not one of my favorites movie but at least is the best one (the only one that I like) of the prequels.

Going to have to edit my top 10 list. It is dated now. I would have to add these two films in there somewhere.

I look at two ways: Movies that are my favorites to re-watch and movies that were the most formative in how I perceive and watch film.
Here's a pretty solid mix of both:

    Pan's Labyrinth
    Jurassic Park
    Hidden Fortress
    Jaws
    Monster Squad
    Sands of Iwo Jima
    Original Universal Monsters
    Blazing Saddles
    Unforgiven
    Avengers

No honorable mentions? Agh. It's no trouble, really. I actually keep a detailed ranking of all films I rate an 8.0 or above (I use a twenty point rating system), currently at 205 films. Here are my top 10:

    1. Amadeus- 10
    2. Star Wars Original Trilogy- 10
    3. The Lord of the Rings- 10
    4. The Godfather- 10
    5. The Producers (1968)- 10
    6. Double Indemnity- 10
    7. Once Upon a Time in the West- 10
    8. The Lion in Winter- 10
    9. Beauty and the Beast (1991)- 10
    10. Man On Wire- 10

The OT and LotR are lumped together both because I think it makes narrative sense (especially for LotR) and to keep them from crowding out the top 10. They are my traditional favorites and are essentially grandfathered into their positions. Amadeus is just so awesome it goes above them from a purely movie perspective (Star Wars and Tolkien certainly have had a larger impact on my life as a whole when you consider them as franchises or canons, but Amadeus the movie is better than Star Wars the movie or Lord of the Rings the movie).

If I were to rank and rate those movies individually it would be:
    1. The Empire Strikes Back- 10
    2. Return of the Jedi- 10 (maybe a 9.5 in terms of quality but I love it so, which is the main basis for ratings)
    3. Star Wars- 10

    and
    1. Return of the King- 10
    2. Fellowship of the Ring- 10
    3. The Two Towers- 9
I only watch the Extended Editions, so consider this a rating for them.

Currently the top 35 films are perfect 10s. In that group are six non-English films, four animated films (including 1 non-English), and one documentary, Man On Wire (the second highest rated doc is #54 at 9.0). Six films are in black and white, though two of them were done later on for stylistic reasons. Fifteen films were made before 1980 and out of that group four were made before 1960. Aside from PJ with LotR, four directors get more than one movie: Miloš Forman, Woody Allen, Akira Kurosawa, and the Coen Brothers each get two mentions.

None of the non-OT Star Wars movies is ranked, as the highest rated one (RotS) is rated 7.0, which is still respectable.

Oh man, this is tough. I'm sure I'm forgetting a lot, but here's where I'd place it now (in rough, but somewhat organized order)

    Return of the King
Inglourious Basterds (I know, Tarantino might be a scumbag)
    Dunkirk
    Return of the Jedi
    Inception
    The Dark Knight
    The Orphanage
A Stupid and Futile Gesture (recently released- could just be heavy on my mind right now, but this one really connected with me, the comedy and the tragedy)
The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly
    The Blues Brothers

i can't rank 'em, but i can come up with 10 in no particular order:
    • The Dark Knight Trilogy (it's one movie ~ fight me)
    • Andrei Rublev
    • Glory
    • The Thin Red Line
    • Amadeus
    • Trust
    • Paterson
    • Dances with Wolves
    • Wings of Desire
    • Star Wars (again, it's all one movie)
    this was really hard!
i know we're not allowed runners-up, but these are five of mine:
    • The Thing
    • Ravenous
    • Young Frankenstein
    • The Fisher King
    • Dead Man

I dont remember if I saw The Sacrifice. Is that one that has a scene of a man with a candle that takes about 20 minutes? Hahhaha
I saw the movies of Tarkovsky more than 10 years ago, never had the chance to rewatch them. But I will.

The Sacrifice was his last film. it was the one with the house and tree and the people staring at each other for 20 minutes. XD
i want to say the one with the candle is Stalker. but it's been a long time since i have watched his films too.
though i watch Andrei Rublev more often since it's my favorite.

    Schindler's List
    Dark Knight
    Star Wars
    Matrix
    Traffic
    Rogue One
Iron Monkey (The original English dubbing, the re-released dubbing after it won an Oscar wasn't nearly as fun)
    Who Am I?
    Deadpool
    An Inconvenient Truth

But ask me again tomorrow and I'll probably name ten other movies.
