Captain Rex in ROTJ?

Dave Filoni shared this at Celebration and confirmed that was Rex in RoTJ. It would make Rex old for a clone but not impossible.

I don't think George Lucas had a Clone Trooper in mind when he cast that guy, but if Filoni said so I might as well accept it as personal canon

 

Forget Rex,

What about the other examples of the elite of the Rebels commando's!

Bravely brave sir Robin Just over Rex's right shoulder is half way to turning tail. The guy over Rex's left shoulder is doing something rather sexual in Rex's direction and the guy behind they is just starting to take in what is going on in front of him.

The bloke near Han is clearly a poser, he is trying way to hard to get his crouch just perfect. Even Han is giving us his cheeky side.

The other two are still having their smoko and will clearly be the ones to buy it first as they let their guard slip and put their heads up over cover. But then the Storm troopers can't shoot so who knows how it will end.....oh wait.

 

Nope. Not until Disney makes it canon. Until then, he's just some random old guy that liked the way Rex looked from seeing a picture of him in the Rebel's archives.

 

It is canon.

Also, the finale of Rebels mentions that Rex fought at the Battle of Endor, if you really need something in-story to canonize it for you.

 

Rebels just said he fought in Battle of Endor, but doesn't mean that specific old guy retroactively becomes Rex. That part of the equation hasn't been confirm by the story group. Just one of Dave's ideas that he wishes to happen. This is what Wookiepeida states about this under the "Canon" banner

I guess it's a little more ambiguous than I remember. But I feel like Dave really wants them to be the same dude.

 

It would be cool if it happens. I good with either option. Hopefully we'll get some post-endor stuff on Rex and Hera since they both were involved/around the the events of the battle of endor.

 

Anything that connects the saga more is great.

 

Agree! I like the ... what's the word? ... frivolous tie-ins. What I mean is that trooper from ROTJ (Sant? I didn't even know he had a name until now) played no meaningful role in the movie -- he was just a supporting cast member who could have been anyone. So why not strengthen the connective tissue? (I say this hypothetically, as I just visited hi wookiepedia page and see he's canon.)

That said, I should note I don't think EVERY past-character should be circled back into the new (or old) movies. But the stakes with this tie-in weren't high, so why not?

 

This is just my opinion, but ever since Dave first (jokingly) said it was Rex I've loved the idea! Rex is a personal favorite character of mine from the Clone Wars and picturing him alongside iconic characters like Han really makes me happy!
And even if they never confirm it to be him, it will always be him in my head canon.

 

I could go either way on this honestly. It would be pretty interesting to have Rex be fighting alongside Anakin’s children on Endor and I’d love to see Rex meeting Luke Skywalker in a book and comic sometime. I’d love it if it was officially canonized, I but can live with it if this random guy is actually just a random guy.

 

Of course Nix Sant is Rex It is canon that Rex fought at the Battle of Endor and they look pretty similar. I refuse to believe anything else

 

Maybe he is a clone of Rex! A CLONE OF A CLONE!!!! xD

 

Side question- do we really see the Rebel commandos do much more than in just this scene?

I don't remember them being all that involved in the battle itself, outside of what stuff like Battlefront seems to imply.

Seems like there was just this small handful of <10 commandos, with a ton of ewoks.
