Carrie Fisher Has Left Us

RIP to our Princess, Carrie will be missed dearly. She is now one with the Force and the Force is with her.

I never knew or met Carrie Fisher. Yet I am still tearing up at times.

Her writing was influential to me, at a critical time. I owe her that. She approached her disease with bravery and taught me in her own way, how to cope with them.

She was a great and gifted artist, quick wit and at times a tragic desire to please everyone in the room as much as she could. She writes about this. Please do go read her writing if you ever have the time. She is worth reading, I promise you.

Disney, please take that insurance money and put it towards fighting understanding and treatment of bipolar disorder. We know so little about it. Less than we do about cancer. I know that's a fan's plea and there are legal, financial ramifications I do not understand, but as a fan's plea, I submit that as humbly as I can.

I do not blame her disease for her death. I embrace her disease for making her who she was and urge greater understanding by using the insurance payout to help advance understanding.

And let me leave you with this thought: Only Carrie Fisher could have given us Princess Leia.

Go read Princess Diaries and factor everything that was going on in Carrie's life given the notes in this book. It's right there on screen, all of it, that energy, that wit and verve, the cavalier spirit that is one step ahead of the evil ahead of her. It helps deliver a great performance despite an utterly ridiculous hair cut, one she annotates so well as to its origin and why, it was chosen in the first place.

Great artists are so rare, iconic, powerful artists even the more rare.

We lost a great soul and we grieve.

the world became a little less interesting on the 27th dec 2016.

When David Bowie died this time last year, all i wanted to do was play his music and read about his life. This is different, and i almost feel selfish in not wanting to let her go just yet.

I never met Carrie, but i miss her.. we all do.

"I don't want my life to imitate art, I want my life to be art" Carrie Fisher.

 

Quoting Tarkin... "Charming, to the last."

I miss her too.

I guess with other celebrities, you feel their loss as it should be, but with Carrie was different. She was royalty - Star Wars and Hollywood royalty - but at the same time she was so down-to-earth and so human one would feel she was someone close.

I was telling my mother last night about Carrie and Debbie and their amazing lessons on resilience and humanity.

 

that's the thing.. i don't feel like someone famous has died, i feel like a mate has.

i knew the first time i chatted with you on here about Carrie.. i'd get upset. i should have done it sooner

 

I really can't wait for ep.8, just to see General Leia.

 

Agreed, I can't wait for her to grace us with her royal presence one more time.
