Has anyone said the movie was amazing ?

Few months ago, Daisy said somewhere she didn't know how the fans will react to the movie.

Yesterday, asked about the movie, John Boyega answer was "It's a lot to take in. You have to see it twice." Seems like he's more the "you'll see it's amazing" kinda guy.

And Mark Hamill... is being Mark Hamill, as always.

I've also read somewhere that it will be a divisive movie amongst the fans.

    Should I be worried ???

What do you think ? Have you heard anything else ?

First time that I saw TFA I was confused and was not sure if I had liked the movie. Second and third time I realised that the movie is Great!
I hope TJL had the same effect.

I don’t know what to think right now. I’m fully anticipating I may be disappointed. Not to sound bleak. But yes.

Yes. There's so many things i wouldn't like if it happens like, Luke being childless, Jedi where wrong, Rey being stronger then Anakin, Anakin a false Chosen One or Reylo. If fans go away, & i mean really get turned off like after TPM off, Disney may want 2 reevaluate the upcoming RJT.

They also still have to measure the words and calibrate their responses not to spill anything at the last second (which why I suspect Mark Hamill trolls, probably an easy way to hide any gaffes if you never know when to take him seriously). For those of us married to particular story points or shipping, it could be bad, but otherwise if you go in with no expectations I suspect you'll love the movie.

I wouldn't be worried. I will admit; I'm biased as I do love the director, Rian Johnson. TFA to me I find was a movie when I rewatched it; it just got worse and worse. Really, the novel is the only aspect of that story I can stomach. My hope is that TLJ won't be much of the same where beyond just a rehash it is just a giant mystery box tease; that it continues the story and gives us just enough reveals.

I don't need to know everything. There's another movie, after all. But enough to where it can satisfy me. In short, TFA to me was a Star Wars movie trying desperately to be a OT movie. TLJ for me should just be a story that is set within the SWs universe. And really, Rian Johnson, I have immense faith that he can pull it off.

As for the cast, honestly; it just seems like a lot of them were exhausted. I know press junkets tend to be really exhausting, and given how they had to travel from Mexico to Paris to all these locations: Jet lag is a thing. And when you consider Mark Hamill who isn't getting any younger, yeah I can understand why he is so tired.

So yeah; I have a good feeling about TLJ in that beyond its marketing, it isn't ESB with a new coat of paint. That it is its own thing. Hopefully, it is good.

The fact that they gave Rian Johnson a whole new trilogy before TLJ even hit screens should give you a lot of faith of the quality of the movie.

I'm cautiously optimistic. TFA reaffirmed my love for SW after the massive let down of the PT. it wasn't perfect by any means but it was going in a much better direction.

Considering the Disney hierarchy gave RJ an entire trilogy after having viewed TLJ tells you everything you need to know.

Ok, yes i get it. But what if the reason RJ got his Unkown Region Trilogy is because he's a "Yesman"?

Then I don't necessarily think the announcement would have been made after the screening of TLJ, they would have announced it sooner. Plus he doesn't strike me as having that sort of character and from cast reaction/minor controversy re the approach he took to TLJ I don't think that's the case.

John Boyega: "Rian has made Star Wars fresh and new."

Gwendoline Christie: "It's our most ancient story of good against evil, told in the most fascinating way."

Mark Hamill: "It's my favorite Star Wars film since Empire."

None of these comments give me absolutely any reason to panic. Just because they haven't outrightly said, "Oh yeah it's great" doesn't necessarily mean they think the opposite. Plus, it isn't rare at all to see someone dance around that subject. Saying that something is amazing or fantastic sets expectations in someone, expectations that the film might not necessarily meet for them personally. They don't want to do that.

I got to be careful because people take things to heart and personally and thinking am trolling. This is only my opinion, not like its sown in to the fabric of fandom or anything. I'm getting bad vibes, cold feet. That's not me detracting anybody else for there excitement but for me alone. I just can't am hoping and praying its just nerves but at this moment I'm on edge.

You are reading too much into it. I mean, when I hear cast to ANY movie saying how great it is before it's released I generally take it with a grain of salt. They are obviously trying to sell the movie. I'm more likely to be worried if they were going around saying how lousy the movie is.

    I’m not worried at all.

I’m actually very confident that this film will, at least initially, be very divisive, and I think it will take a few viewings to truly take it all in. Whilst I’d argue the same for TFA, I think that it was more focused around Rey’s Forceback and in finding more enjoyment/truly noticing the score; this, on the other hand, I think will narratively be a very intellectual movie, and will probably tell us a lot more than is evident when taken at face value.

I’ve had faith in Rian since he was announced as the film’s director. I loved his other films, and I had a feeling I knew where he might go with VIII: a bit darker, a bit grittier, a much greater character focus, a more nuanced but fresh storyline, etc. But it’s how this could all fit not the Star Wars universe which has intrigued me most, and I genuinely believe the cast when they seem to imply that this will be a morally challenging film to watch.

The announcement that he was to be given a trilogy prior to the film’s release means that Disney/Lucasfilm don’t care if VIII proves Rian Johnson as a box office record-breaking director, and certainly means that they care a lot for his character, his commitment and his storytelling.

I truly do think that we’re in for something very special, and whilst I will walk into the theatre with a blank slate of a mind to be coloured only by Rian’s vision, I honestly think that this could be up there with everyone’s favourite Star Wars film when all is said and done.
