SPECULATION Casting News for 1st Spinoff

I haven't heard that rumor.

 

Most of it is probably because they’re making it up as they go along or trying to sell speculation as spoiler. But I think in this case, and probably others, I think you’ll see rumors linked to the new character because now “scoopers” know what questions to ask. It’s hard to dig up information from a source when you don’t know what questions to ask. The more info you have in order to form detailed and specific questions, the more likely you are to squeeze something of relevance out of them.

I'll try to dig it up for you later. It was linked to wherever I first saw the news break last week on twitter. I was literally sitting on a ride in Disney World at the time, so I don't really remember what site it was or how reliable it was. But I can't search twitter at work, so I'll try to get a chance to check later to night and see if I can find it.

 

I don't really get that either. I feel like they went out of their way to show that Sabine was Asian (or space-Asian - you know what I mean). I don't think they'd ignore that in an adaptation, even if Hollywood doesn't hire nearly enough Asian actors and actresses.

 

This whole thing reeks of someone seeing some concept art of a female in mandalorian armor, or a descriptions stating the character is a spunky young rebel with an attitude "akin to Sabine" and taking it literally. It wouldn't completely shock me if true, and wouldn't be the worst case scenario for the female lead, but it strikes me as unlikely. Sounds like someone patching together some unknown spoiler with facts and characters they know to complete the equation. Like Jurassic park with Frog DNA and dinosaurs, blindly filling gaps with known info usually ends up biting you in the ass....literally.

 

Check out Orphan Black. Even if you just watch the pilot to get an idea of her ability (although she gets even better as the show presses on). Her ability to inhabit multiple characters and make them completely distinct people is amazing. Even better when she plays one character impersonating a second...the nuance and skill she brings to that show floors me on a regular basis.
