Chandler Riggs auditioned for Han Solo. Outrageous!

And THAT right there is PROOF that somebody on this movie doesn't know what the hell they're doing.

I've got a bad feeling about this.

The fact that they say that they're looking for someone who looks A BIT like Ford is a huge problem. The Star Wars universe will cease to have any sort of accountability for continuity and will piss people off. I know a lot of people are apprehensive about Anthony Ingruber but that's the only way they can pull this off. Plus Star Wars has been casting unknowns since the beginning.

He would also be my choice.. if I was forced to make one. But still... he kind of bombed in Age Of Adaline in my opinion. He put too much effort into looking like Ford superficially, then failed to pull off the charisma and body language.. His Han Solo would look good in photos but may lack soul. Anthony really needs to brush up and have a good actor's director helping him.

Funny enough, I know one of the casting directors who's casting this, partially.

He was in a short film called Eyes Open Nevermore where you can see him actually act instead of acting/impersonating. If he goes in straight and does a Ford impression ever so slightly, I think he could pull it off.

I think so too. As long as he is interesting, charismatic, and looks like Ford (we already know he does).. I would support Ingruber as young Han.

I am flip flopping a little bit as I previously said nobody could do it.. but this is the only way if they're going the live action route.

I just hope whoever does take the role, puts 100% into it. I don't want to see some guy with a completely different shaped head playing Ford, or some pansy like Joseph Gordon Levitt playing him with some prosphetics (ewwwww! Looper! It was okay but he did NOT look like Willis)

What i'm saying is.. it goes further than looks. Looks should be a good 60-70% of the deciding factor.. but I think we need someone with a similar personality to Ford in their personal life. A lot of what makes Han Solo great is Ford himself.

Some advice for Ingruber (if he ever comes across this thread)

You already look like Ford, and you look enough like him to pull off a young Han Solo.. You don't need to try to look like him more with the facial expressions! Just focus on inhibiting the soul of the character and have fun. Literally 15-20 years pass between this movie and A New Hope, I would prefer if you kept it a little messy and fun instead of just impersonating.. Personalities can change.

But again.. this advice only applies to Ingruber.

Did you forget about the other 2499 auditions..? Yeah, Chandler is definitely not right but that's no reason to write off the casting director or film because the dude auditioned....

Ingruber does not look like a young Han Solo he looks like Han Solo from when Harrison Ford was young. They are telling a story about a late teen early 20's kid meeting Chewie. Ingruber looks like Han Solo 5 minutes before he met Luke.

Garrett Hedlund should be the one to play Han Solo. I always wondered who would fit right and after seeing blogs and website that had a bunch of actors for the role I think Mr. Hedlund is so far the right fit. After seeing Pan and the way he acted on it had me feel like thats what Han Solo would act like. either way I cant wait to see who will play this smuggler scum.

In my opinion, it either needs to look exactly like Harrison Ford (Anthony Ingruber) OR it needs to be more lenient, & choose an actor that looks remotely like Ford but can pull off the charisma & character 100% (Ewan McGregor as Obi Wan Kenobi).

For me, I'm starting to think I wish this movie wasn't made. But with so little details released, I'll keep an open mind.

Listen... if Han feels right and Larry Kasdan is writing - I put my faith into it. For now. But you can't mess with Han's back story too much, keep it close to the E.U.

Edit: and the universe has to feel like A New Hope/KOTOR combined.. now we're talking. Please Mr. Kasdan

Well since they jettisoned the old EU I doubt they'll stick to old Han stories. Although, I can see them showing Han saving Chewbacca in some form.

I really not feeling a anthology movie with Han Solo or Boba Fett. Im fine with the trilogy. They arent filling in gaps just adding sidestorys that dont really fall into the whole SW saga. Rogue One is kinda iffy to me.

I think even if its a great movie people will hate it.

I don't think many people want to see Han in a different light. If the show a more naïve kid on his way to the jaded cynic of ANH he won't be enough of Han to feel like Han. I do think if done well will be awesome.

You've got Kasdan going for it - his Han dialogue was absolutely rock solid for TFA.

And I'm liking the idea their going for a mid-20s Solo and not some kid. That would absolutely suck ala Whinakin.

Hell, I'd be happy just watching the Millenium Falcon for two hours.

I mean - Golden Age People. Total Golden Age. Maclunkey drown me in Star Wars. Loving it.

We shouldn't get a Han Solo movie. It's not needed but the constant worship of the character led to this and the Boba Fett film. I really, really don't want to see someone else play Han Solo.. really? Han Solo? Ford made that character, and he proved it works only because its him in The Force Awakens.

Why can't we have a Han Solo spinoff with Ford playing him like 5 years before TFA on one of his smuggling adventures or something.

Because Harrison Ford would rather crash his plane a few more times than do that.

I agree wholeheartedly, I want the movie to be cancelled immediately. BUT if they are going to do it, they need to damage the character as little as possible by having Kasdan and a good actor/director involved.

There is simply no reason for a revisit to this character, we already know enough about him from A New Hope and beyond. I like the fact that he has countless untold adventures for us to dream up in our own minds and that adds depth to the character. We don't need anymore goshdarned prequels, I hope Rogue One is the very last one we get. Then they can move on and just let video games explore that original trilogy universe. I'm happy with that, and as I said before.. a Han Solo spinoff would work MUCH better as a video game than a movie.. then we can get the Han we want to see, be able to pilot the Falcon.. have dialogue tree conversations like the KOTOR games etc. That would be so much better than a spinoff and it would rake in a lot of money too.

I just don't ****ing understand why there aren't any interesting, thought provoking Star Wars video games coming out. The great thing about games is no matter how good/bad they are.. they can't harm the main saga. Wake up Disney, lets get a Han Solo game.. a new KOTOR.. an open world Boba Fett game in the same vein as Mercenaries. This is what i'm interested in, I don't want to see that LAME Gareth Edwards' vision of what the original trilogy is. I don't want Larry Kasdan's kids to ruin Han Solo with poor writing.. why not cancel all these Anthology films and get a good Star Wars game out every 6 months? Look at the storytelling power of The Last Of Us for goodness sake. They can do this without poorly directed/written movies which'll make the rest of the saga look bad.

"Hey there's a new Star Wars movie coming out!"

"Oh..... Sigh... Is it about Han Solo and Boba Fett again? I'm so bored of it now."

Thats what you're going to do to the franchise, Disney/Kathy Kennedy... that is what will happen if you don't hold your horses and start respecting the source material. Leave the past in the past when it comes to the films, we already got prequels and mostly everbody disliked them.

    Learn from Lucas' mistakes.
