Chewie in Han Solo standalone?

    At this point we don't know exactly who and what we're seeing in this film beside Han himself. Will the Falcon appear? Will Lando appear? Will Jabba appear? Which planets could appear? And perhaps the most important - will Chewie appear?

    It would seem obvious for Chewie to be there, but can we be sure? How long will he appear for? Will Han and Chewie know each other by the time the film begins?

    It's worth noting that Peter Mayhew has said that he will have 'a big announcement' - could this be his return for Han Solo?

    Chewbacca is one of Star Wars' most recognizable characters, a beloved fan favorite particularly popular with the kidz. I cannot see any wisdom in Disney/LFL deliberately writing a Han Solo movie that omit his adorable sidekick. Chewie will definitelly be in the Han Solo movie, although Peter Mayhew might not play him - I bet a spry young guy will play the spry young Chewbacca.

    It's always been my belief that, as this is the Han Solo movie, the movie will be about an important moment in Han's life (as opposed to just some random job he ran for Jabba). The most natural one of those for me would be the new-canon's explanation as to how he and Chewie met.

    I'm still skeptical about the new movie because A.C Crispin wrote a trilogy for Han's backstory. It showed how he met Chewie, Jabba, and Lando. It shows how he became a smuggler and how he made the kessel run. It was awesome and it explained everything. I'm going to watch the new movie, but I have my expectations too high for a 2 hour movie

    Anyway, they are going to show Chewie in the movie, especially with the scene in Empire strikes back where Lando recognizes him, and the scene in the force awakens where he blasts Ren. (Not saying anymore in case you haven't seen it)

    I think we'll definitely see how they met. I assume Chewie may have had to flee Kashyyyk for collaborating with Yoda or something after RotS.
