    hahahah

Me neither, the pale scar is actually visible above the pants, but I didn't comment on that because it wasn't the point of the post.

That's true, but a couple of more obvious scars wouldn't have disfigured him.

And it would have worked just as well with a big bowcaster scar.

i honestly think part of the reason they didn't make a big deal of the bowcaster scar is because they wanted his face/neck scar to stand out preferentially; those are the marks Rey gave him.

That might be true. But in that case, they should have thought about it before deciding to get him shot by Chewbacca. Now it feels like something very important has been ignored. Not that the scar is the only thing that has been ignored in that scene. Kylo's attitude altogether seems out of character. He turned to Rey smirking and proud of himself, as if he didn't spend the last...what, 6 years?....hiding his entire body, including his hands. And it's so annoying, that scene could have been much more meaningful, it could have included real character development. I would have done it like....I would have him looking surprised and uncomfortable, while Rey, surprised too at first, gets over it instantly (much like she did in the movie). Which in turn would make HIM comfortable. And in the next scene, I'd have him in a sleeveless shirt or something like that, something that shows some skin, proof that he's alright revealing parts of himself figuratively AND literally. Which would say a lot about their connection. So much wasted potential!

i agree i would have done it differently and the scene makes me uncomfortable for so many reasons (including the ones you just mentioned about him covering himself up). on the other hand, i do think the scene conveys what you just described. Ben is obviously someone who does nothing by half-measures. he's caught off-guard but commits to it and maybe even likes that it makes Rey uncomfortable; that does tell us some interesting things about his character/personality/desperation.

to me it's not out of character because from the moment he "found" Rey, he's been throwing himself at her like a crazy person and this scene is no different.

on the other hand, i do think the bowcaster wound is important; i think the fact of Chewie shooting him is important. but we still have no idea what kind of relationship he has with Chewie (and it might actually come to nothing). and that could be another reason they deliberately de-emphasized that wound.

so far as we have seen in the EU, Chewie was not there when he was born, and was not there two years later when he was running around naked screaming "Unca Wanwo!" XD

Yeah, emotions and distance. Interesting theory though.

Regardless of why Chewie didn't kill Kylo, I hope he DOES kill Kylo, if they go with Kylo dying in episode 9. Chewie should be the one to do it.

That would have been a short series if he did. Usually Chewie is pretty accurate. I think it is more like some deus ex machina on the part of the writers to keep the character alive instead of any intention by Chewie. After all, he had seen his best mate die right in front of him, betrayed by his own son. This coupled with existing beliefs around honour meant that this transgression could not go unanswered.

Now that I reflect, it would have been nice to see Chewie blast him right in the face and introduce some prosthetic makeup like: charring, blistering, liquefied fat and meat juices dripping down otherwise pristine robes and half his jaw hanging off by a few strands of skin and sinew. Stupid 12A film rating.
