Kinda surprised there isn't a thread for this but why not start one? What are your favorite classic rock bands? I am in my early 20's but my dad was a big classic rock fan and so he brought us up the right way with listening to lot of the big names back in the day like Journey, Doobie Brothers, Gensis, Boston, etc.
I have grown on my love for classic rock. I like just as much as I do country music.

I was a teenager in the 90's, and while I did/do listen to a lot of that (Pearl Jam, Nirvana, STP, etc), I was always into classic rock just as much. The Stones are probably my favorite, I've gotten to see them twice, once in '97 and once a couple of years ago. Also big into The Beatles, Kinks, Zeppelin, Hendrix (particularly with Band Of Gypsys), Bowie, Van Morrison, Doors, etc. I listen to just about any rock music from '63-'98, from the Beach Boys to Marilyn Manson.

    Honorable mention from me...
at twelve years old I first heard the song "Who Are You ?" and it stuck on me... The Who was my all time Favorite band 'til into my late 30's.
Because of Pete Townshend (and my Father and Grand-Father), I wanted to learn to play guitar.

Liked the Beatles, The Kinks, and a slew of others...all of 'em I've since years ago, let long go of...

Those were the golden days of music. I'm a huge fan of Black Sabbath. I also love The Beatles, Queen, The Smiths, The Doors, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Uriah Heep, etc. The list is endless. I love collecting CDs of the greatest bands of the era, although I don't shy away from the modern stuff.

Last night I had the chance to see The Who at the Wembley Stadium. A very emotional situation because I grew up listening Who's Next and Tommy with the influence of my father who died 7 months ago.
Was a beautiful show, not my favorite set list but I loved anyway. Seeing Roger and Pete live on the stage was great. I cried.
    Eddie Vedder was there also.

David Bowie (any iteration, really); Iggy Pop (and the Stooges); The Rolling Stones; Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds; Guns n' Roses (back in the day... not so much nowadays); did I mention Bowie?

My mom says I must have inherited her music taste because I never listened to music until high school, but ended up loving a lot of the bands she listened to (she listens to a lot of 70s and 80s rock and metal).

My top 3 bands of all time: Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath (both with Ozzy and Dio), and Rush.
Favorite bands from the 70s and 80s: Metallica (through Black Album at least), Iron Maiden, AC/DC, Boston, Heart, and Van Halen.
Not sure if he counts, but I'll include Joe Satriani as an honorable mention. He's one of my favorite guitarists.

I was a teenager in the 80's but my music tastes are far more 90's. Joe Satriani is my only real 80's rock interest. No one plays a guitar like Satch

Graduating from high school in the mid 80's, some of my most memorables are ZZ Top, Night Ranger, REO Speedwagon, Styx, Loverboy, Billy Squier, Rick Springfield, Meatloaf, Van Halen, The Cars, Sammy Hagar, blah, blah, blah...

Seen most of them in concert, and some of them multiple times.

This is the most entertaining and scary thing I'd never seen in my life. Until I found it 5 minutes ago.

Where to start, and where to end?

Love: Buddy Holly, The Everly Brothers, Little Richard, The Beach Boys, The Kinks, The Beatles, Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Bob Dylan, Otis Redding, James Brown, Parliament/Funkadelic, Jimi Hendrix, ELO, ABBA, Kraftwerk, Leonard Cohen, The Fall, ... I'm so paraphrasing. And bored of listing already.
