Oh, I'm sure Disney's noticed her. I recently wrote an article about how Dwayne Johnson wants her to direct their Jungle Cruise adaptation.

Although I'd love, love, love to see Cuaron dorect a SW film, I think that his romance with big franchises was a one-time event only that resulted in a, I dare to say, masterpiece in form of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Otherwise, he seems to focus on creating his own films.

    I'd certainly hope so.
I never said that it was a done deal or anything, it's just who he said he'd love to work with.

Also, I nearly forgot. Marvel hired her to direct Thor: The Dark World but the deal fell through. Their loss.

My two cents (which are likely worth less than two cents):

I hated Jurassic World. HATED it. And I am an absolute sucker for dinosaur movies --- I loved Jurassic Park, am a defender of The Lost World (despite some truly cringe-worthy moments) and even quite enjoyed Jurassic Park III (although it probably has not aged well at all - I haven't watched it in a spell). But Jurassic World is so devoid of personality, style or cinematic verve that it terrified me immediately when Treverrow was hired for SW. He managed to make Chris Pratt unlikable in that film (which is impressive given how charming the dude is). And yes, I've seen Safety Not Guaranteed. It's a cute little indie film that I forgot pretty much the moment it ended. The best thing about it was Aubrey Plaza and that's because I have a ridiculous crush on her.

Has anyone seen Treverrow's first short film? It's mildly amusing but also reeks of fratboy humor. It has the stink of the kind of person I'd never want to know in real life....and yeah, I want SW creators to be people I like. Sorry, SW is sacred I don't want it in the hands of a creep. I know it's terribly judgmental, but I just don't like what I know about this guy.

I've been hoping since day one that they fire this guy and now that these reviews are out about his new film I'm downright horrified that he's in charge of the final film in the 9 movie saga. Again, sorry to be melodramatic, but this is the culmination of a lifetime of childhood anticipation. Please give it to someone worthy.

firstly... there is nothing ridiculous about that. she is utterly gorgeous, and it would be ridiculous to not have a crush on her lol.

i feel your concern.. a great many do.

thing is.. either KK and co saw something in this guy that makes them think he is the right director for 9, or they implicity trust Spielberg and are going with his suggestion and crossing their fingers.

whilst i don't think he will be replaced.. i would be amazed if Kennedy hasn't had regular discussions about switching director for ep9, both before and since those brutal.. brutal reviews.

My only rule for SW directors is that i only want people that love star wars. I was worried about Gareth Edwards doing R1.. but the love and attention he poured into it is staggering. He would actually be my choice if they were gonna do a late swap.

Have they already picked a director for the 3rd SA film? if not - BINGO - you nailed it on the head. Bring in Cuaron for that film.

Cuaron would probably be a "Star Wars Story" director not an episodic director.

I'd be down with that, provided that they bar her from doing the 300 style slowdowns during the action sequences.

Well, to defend the slowmo, we did get a dab of slowmo in the OT: When Vader chops Obiwan, and when Luke fights Vision Vader in the Cave. So there is a precedent for slow motion in star wars....
...BUT, I'm with you. Keep that bullet-timey, modern slowmo out of my Star Wars!

Gareth Edwards absolutely knocked R1 out of the park. Production troubles be damned, I have absolute faith in him. His love for SW is apparent in every frame of the film, thus making him perfect for Ep. 9. Hell, at this point I'd even choose him over my one-time dream option of Spielberg.

I believe that slo-mo is also used when Han's chest is pierced by Kylo Ren's lightsaber.

I agree with others that CT is too far along in the writing and pre-production to pull him. This does not seem even remotely like a Josh Trank scenario to me. However, if they do have to replace him, Edwards would be my top choice also. R1 is now my favorite SW film. so I know I'd love his Episode IX if that were to be the case.
