    this.. + ice cream.

Jurassic World was a big opportunity, and whilst it's not the greatest thing i've ever seen.. it was watchable, and it made a pants load of money. tick

Book of Henry was low risk. great or poor... it was never going to trouble the administrators at the box office. He tried something a little different, and at the moment he is getting panned by the critics. time will tell with this one.. but i have a sneaky feeling it might be a slow burner that becomes a bit of a classic in a few years time.

Episode 9 is a completely different kettle of pineapples. make a good one of these films... it can be talked about like empire is.
it's an opportunity beyond anything else he has ever had, and i think he is talented enough to be given a fair chance to make a stunning film.

He is continuing a classic story, he has some very high quality actors, he has LF behind him, and if that wasn't a good enough set of ingredients... the music won't be half bad.

let's get behind him, and stop shouting about how worried some of us are. let's be positive ppl ! :)

I actually want Colin Trevorrow to stay on for Episode 9 so he can shut up the haters. I'm always pulling for the under dog.

Honestly, I feel like the absolute worst that he could do is deliver a by-the-numbers sequel that gets a couple of more-than-minor adjustments in post-production to be a stronger movie. I have more concern for the Anthology series, as it's apparent that there are some serious growing pains on that front.

Star Wars Episode IX will be a better movie than Jurassic World. Bet on that.

i think it's odd that they are keeping him on with only one indie film and a successful blocbuster with spielberg's praise while L&M have had more experience and success even though they are more comedic.

But L&M couldn't handle a "main" Star Wars movie is the problem. Whereas Trevorrow has his "blockbuster movie" stripes (and Spielberg cred), even if it's with a movie that people have strong feelings about one way or the other.

It's so weird and backwards that they listen to Spielberg, but ignore Lucas...

Who said they are ignoring Lucas?

They've done a lot of things he was interested in doing but just made their own changes.

Rumor has it that they just did, and it's part of the reason why Lord & Miller aren't working on the Han Solo movie anymore.

All the reports that they trashed his story outlines for the ST.
Are you saying that there's a rumor that George had a hand in the firing of Lord/Miller??
Or that they are just trying to stay true to the aesthetics established by George?

The disaster of the Han Solo shoot is more proof that we need EXPERIENCED directors to do these movies.

Gore Verbinski would be a solid choice for a Star Wars film. Look how he balances epic battles with comedy in the Pirates of the Carribean 1, 2 and 3.

Guillermo Del Toro would be a riskier choice, but could possibly do well. Park Chan-Wook would make the most artistic Star Wars film, and would do it for enough money.

These under-40 newbies are too unpredictable. Can you believe they almost gave a Star Wars film to Josh Trank?! Any director considered for these films should have a minimum of 5 films under their belt (unless they're obviously a supertalent)

While I'm dying to know what George's vision for the ST was, after the Prequels, shelving George's ideas may not have been such a bad idea though(regardless of how one feels about TFA).

I am very intrigued by this as well. We do know that Lawrence Kasdan was unhappy with their changes to his script, so I suspect it has more to do with trying to stick to established aesthetics.

That George Lucas may have been talked to about the movie during the production hiatus. I can't say for certain and that's why I didn't include it in my recent article.
That was mostly on Simon Kinberg before the disaster that was Fant4stic had fully been unveiled.

I know! I want to know so bad!
But I think there's a fairly large consensus that George's ideas for the PT were solid, but it was his execution was what was flawed. Reality is probably somewhere in the middle.
In my opinion, the more George input the better! I might be in the minority on that...but to me George is still THE MAN!

If he was consulted, then it was because the Han Solo movie was his idea. And while at this point he pretty much doesn't care too much about overseeing Star Wars anymore, his opinions are still valued by the company.

Also, he said that they tossed his ideas out entirely, but that's not true. Many of his plans were restructured into what became The Force Awakens, particularly with Rey (and I think Kylo Ren as well).
