Its business. Sometimes stuff doesnt work out. For every good idea there are a thousand bad ones. I trust overall they are making the right decisions. I liked rogue one the way it is. I didnt like the first trailer, so im glad they changed it. The idea of a Boba fett movie makes me cringe, so im glad that fell through.

    normal compared to what?

they are making Star Wars films! what possibly compares to that, for us to question how they do it?

if LF's sole reason for all these changes in director, calls for re-shoots etc is to get the best films made.. then i'm down with it.
unless someone axed comes forward and says that KK is impossible to work with or something like that.. we'll never know anyway. but nobody is saying that as far as i know.

no disrespect intended @Canadian Ronin .. i'm just confused by your points. :)

The shortlist of who I think will be considered:

Rian Johnson (has already said he'd "love" to do another; I think it'll be IX)

    Also:
Tony Gilroy (made some great changes to Rogue One; though, I think it would have been a good film regardless)
Spielberg (he'd never do it, but LFL will try if they want to go in the conservative Ron Howard direction)
Ron Howard (see above; most doubtful on the list, though)
    JJ Abrams
Jeff Nichols (dark horse; several great films under his belt already, and demonstrated he can direct great sci-fi on a budget)
    George Lucas.

Ryan looks very emotional around TLJ, if you look at the whole as a trilogy, really he took over the story when it starts to be interesting: TFA is a mere introduction of new characters and not much more. In that sense, having the opportunity to finish his story must be a great one. It will all depend on how exhausted he will be after TLJ: we need to remember that he wrote it and directed it alone for the last 2-3 years, not an easy task.

I imagine it could be easier and quicker to continue than getting into the whole thing from scratch. In a way, doing VIII makes him ready to do IX more than anyone could be. The potential exhaustion is what I'm worried about... However, he doesn't seem tired at all, so fingers crossed.

Uhmm they just started making Star Wars movies again. So I guess since the OT. The OT went through many changes, like I said before. ROTJ had some directing problems as well, but that was before twitter, so no one cared.

they've had 7 movies in production at some point. 6 of them had had directors attached. 4 of them had some kind of issue and replacement (one of which involved firing directors in the middle of shooting.......)

Yeah KK is probably really hard to get along with, so was GL. at the end of the day she is responsible for the overall outcome. If it sucks, she will answer to the Big Mouse.

And the emperor is not as forgiving as I am.

While I'm incredibly curious to read George's original ideas for the Sequel Trilogy, I wouldn't necessarily call not going with his direction a bad move. He still directed the Prequels after all. ;)

Additionally, what little we have heard about George's scripts suggest that they likely had kids as the main characters of the new trilogy. I'm not so hype on that idea honestly. That doesn't necessarily mean that they had to scrap the whole script though. Then again, we honestly don't know the whole story and what ideas they kept and what ones they scrapped. Sadly, we probably won't find out for another 15 to 20 years in my estimation.

My problem with KK is she wants it both ways like she is supposed to be a steady management but she also wants to exert some creative control but according to RJ and CT when they came in its not LF handed them an outline with what KK and the SG wanted to have happen in the movie. So I am fine with wanting a creative vision but how can you claim you want a creative vision when you hire these guys let them do what they want and then yah or neh them after they been hired? Say what you will be Kevin Feige has a vision he is the man with plan mapped out years in advanced. KK needs to start doing that as well.
