Just finished it. GREAT Show ! Loved the talk and thoughts on the Chosen One. Their thoughts on it are very like mine, it's Bigger than we think or were told.

    Watching this now.
Question - does anyone know if any of the Jedi Council members are also members on the Cantina? - just curious

In the opening, they discuss Luke and Rey's relationship. We - I would say - almost know for certain that Luke is initially not going to want to train Rey. One of them(Jedi Council) speculates that Rey will talk him into it. They mention the similarity to The Karate Kid. But using that analogy is somewhat incorrect IMO. If my memory serves correct, Daniel did not talk Mr. Miyagi into training him. There was a catalyst that changed Miyagi mindset. The catalyst was the bullies ganging up on Daniel.

I think it will go down similarly in TLJ. Haven't we seen that Kylo will go to Ach-To to confront and/or kill Rey? I'm thinking this is the beginning of the catalyst. But unlike in The Karate Kid, I think it will be a somewhat slow transition from the "No way!" Luke to "Let's do this" Luke.

Or am I way out in left field?

Are you imagining that Luke will train Rey in TLJ? If so, then there is a problem with your theory: if Kylo comes to Ach-To, Luke and Rey will have to leave the planet after that--unless Kylo were to die or go over to the light side, both of which seem very unlikely to me. That is, if Kylo were to leave Ach-To, wouldn't he relay its location back to Snoke and the First Order? Because of this, Luke and Rey would have to leave the planet immediately or risk capture. So unless you think that Luke trains her off of Ach-To in TLJ (and all of the footage we've seen suggests that whatever training she receives happens on Ach-To), she'd have to be trained by Luke either *before* Kylo, or else the training will take place in episode IX. Does that sound right?

It all depends on if Kylo goes to Ach-To alone or if he comes with a garrison or say, the KOR. If it is just Kylo v Luke and Rey, wouldn't that favor Luke and Rey? Wouldn't the two of them together be at least as strong as Kylo? If so, why would they need to run?
