Compiled list of all known Easter Eggs in Rogue One (spoilers!)

I believe we hear the original Darth Vader motif from ANH when we are introduced to him in the bacta tank.

 

I'm positive its when the trooper gets kicked off he deck on the rainy rock planet where her dad dies. Right before they have to escape. We all laughed at the sound.

 

It's a little more than a Vader motif, but yeah, I remember hearing it too. It's kind of a generic "imperial" motif in A New Hope (often used with no reference to Vader), but it was used in reference to Vader here.

 

I may be remembering my Star Wars Oxygen wrong, then. Either way, we hear it once at the introduction of Vader, and that's the first time since ANH it's been used.

 

That makes me want to see it for a third time

Well, Williams may have written it for Vader and been "fast and loose" with its actual use (kinda like how he used the Leia theme when Vader killed Obi Wan and used the Yoda theme when Leia sees Luke on Bespin).

 

Was it an original from Michael? I wasnt sure. What Im sure is this movie wont be recommended for n Oscar because it riffs.

Sure he did. It would have to fit within the context of the surrounding music. But we still get an intact quote of that old music cue.

"Quoting" in music is just like quoting in speech. There is a particular theme that Williams wrote for Vader/The Empire in ANH. Giacchino replicates every note in that theme; thereby quoting it.

 

The above-mentioned music and the Death Star one I mentioned can be heard in "Krennic's Aspirations" and "When Has Become Now" on the soundtrack, respectively.

 

I love how they incorporated the x-wing fighters from a new hope in this film.

 

I thought Ponda Baba and Evazan was a bit forced and I guess they had no trouble leaving in time.

 

I heard from reviews and read that they said General Syndulla but I didn't catch that. When did someone say that?

 

I don't remember the exact moment. But it's on Yavin 4. Her name is called over the loudspeaker, but it's very much a background thing.
