If I remember correctly too, that particular ship seemed to have an operation similar to the B-wing, in which the wing on bottom and the top cannon "wing" folded into some tucked away positions.

The concept craft doesn't seem to have such capability but it's that odd seemingly extraneous wing that stood out.

I think that JJ and the production team are intentionally leaking the concept art. I think it's no coincidence that a lot of the teaser trailer just confirmed what we already knew and what was already leaked (some of it anyway). The thing with a lot of concept art is it never reaches the final stages of production, but it's cool to get a glimpse into the creative process for the movie. Maybe MVS, the incendiary troopers, and the tri-wing will be featured in the next teaser (hopefully released in May with the Avengers)...I think it's interesting to note that the Vader/trooper image is probably one of the earliest concepts...(for ex. - They are using Vader as a placeholder and the stormtrooper armor looks like the OT armor.) That being said, this scene may never make it's way to the final film. It looks really awesome though.

Yeah possibly just influence from the twilight or almost an evolution of the model maybe. Like a 69' Charger to a 2014' Charger.

So if these drawings are as old as we assume they are maybe MvS could still end up (partly) a cyborg?
Does anyone know when MvS was cast?

It's possible. I know the rumor mill has shied away from him being the cyborg recently in favor of Driver. The "Vader" one certainly must be pretty old, because the stormtroopers even seem to have their OT helmets, and I feel the ST helmet came out a long time ago.

Is this the art that people were saying was described as Kylo with stormtroopers burning down a village? There was a case being made about this scene taking place in the beginning of the film and if Kylo appeared this early and was being played by Driver this led to the possible double agent scenario for Kylo's character.
If this is the art ...that's a bunch of B.S. the character who takes Vaders place could be anyone. Also even if he was a double agent I don't see how he leads a battalion of troopers into a village and burns it down then goes back to the rebel base and plays it cool.

If memory serves, they seemed to be saying that it showed the character (not called "Vader" in their description) as they were disembarking the ship, with stormtroopers in front of them.

Never seen it though, so I could be wrong in what I remember about their descriptions.

I'm glad MF.Com had the balls to "leak" already "leaked" art that a chosen few decide to sit on and "describe" for the peasants. SO MUCH AWESOMER too be able to see this stuff. MSW.net's descriptions make me want to eat my own diarrhea.

Ok, just making sure that theory wasn't even more goofy than I already think it is.

I count 3 sandcrawlers. Left, middle, right.

And due to that number of sandcrawlers, it reminds me of this McQ concept art. Are we going to see a torching of a Jawa village?

I think it's interesting that this Red and gray theme seems consistent too.

It's possible the red and gray/white might just be placeholder colors, just to show the design template ideas in regards to markings.

Or possibly the Empire is trying out some ships other than your typical TIE design.

Great art! Just thinking... Could, what looks like the Vader helmet, actually be Kylo Ren's hood?

That's not Vader. It's just a guy that looks exactly like Vader by coincidence. You know how they say everyone has a doppelganger in the universe. Well, this is Vader's doppelganger. Who, coincidentally, is also evil.

I have a doppelganger. His life is the exact opposite of mine. He's successful. :'(

While he could be a placeholder, it made me think. What better way for the Empire to retain some level of power and threat than to have a “stand in” Darth Vader. As soon as the Rebels were victorious on Endor the Empire could have placed a “Fake Vader” into the fold to make people fear he was never defeated. In other words, it’s a guy dressed as Vader (or girl GC), and is simply there as a fraudulent attempt to convey fear into the opposition.

The random citizen that simply sees what they think is Vader would spread rumors quickly that he lives.

Thus propaganda fear…thus our Cold War fear.

The awakening of the Force could see Kylo Ren slay this “Vader” in front of a large group of people and thus bringing REAL fear to the people. The Empire now knows there is a new Sith and the common man knows there is someone more powerful who actually “killed Vader”.

Of course the audience and the main characters would know it wasn’t Vader, but the threat of Kylo Ren appearing with lightsaber is then common knowledge.

    I dunno…
It helps put Vader in the movie without them having to actually have Vader in the movie and ruin the OT. (money)

    OOOOO Something Meaty.

Ship Art: Looks nice to me. I love space ships but not that into all the details. Works for me!

Vader & Burning Base: This could be the scene that takes place just after the Stormtrooper sequence in the trailer. If you look closely you can see sand and what looks like Moisture Farming equipment when the door opens on the troop transport. Vader is a stand in.

Max on Throne: Easily the most interesting pic. Doesn't look too evil to me. Old hero with skewed view of the Dark Side maybe? An anti-Hero maybe? Willing to do things the Jedi wouldn't to get the job done? Has the ear of impressionable young hero with a thirst for power?

None of these will pan out I think but does give some clues!
