    Aah. Nice connection there... the color palette/lighting of the MvS piece certainly looks to share the look/tone/feel of the throne room piece.

    Here's how I break down those three characters:

    Kylo Ren (Adam Driver or Gwendoline or Domhnall or whomever is under there) is a stooge for the main baddie
    Serkis is the voice + mocap of a wisened blue alien who knows a bit about the force and lightsabers
    Serkis is also the mocap for our big baddie
    MvS is a grandfatherly figure sharing old tales
    MvS is also the voice of our main baddie, mocapped by Serkis

    How do I explain MvS going from wisened old man to evil incarnate? No idea. That's where you guys come in!

    My argument is

    1. The coloration of the pieces are very similar.
    2. They characters are both wearing black robes. While the odds are high there will be multiple characters wearing black robes, I see just a little too much coincidence here.

    Just look how nonchalant he appears. Hands folded together passively. A half bemused smile on his face. Posture leaning on his elbow to the side in a relaxed grandfatherly posture. The background is a warm gold illuminating him in something approximating soft candle or fire light.

    If he is a villain, I’d venture a guess we don’t’ know it in this scene.

    The candlelight could really be a shrine or temple.

    Also, the only times in the entire series that Palpatine was not calm and relaxed were when he fought Windu and got killed. The rest of the prequels he was even a fatherly figure for Anakin.

    I absolutely agree with what you are saying. That could be the lighting in the cave, and a villain could in certain instances appear relaxed and fatherly. But, it is unlikely to appear in concept art.

    The tone is what is important to me here, and the tone of that art, which should be designed to sell the overall concept of a scene or character, has a calm and non-threatening tone. Concept art for a villain, would likely strike a more threatening tone. So I think he is either a wise old man type figure, or a villain in disguise. I lean to the former, but the only way I see him as a villain with this concept art is if they are selling his persona before the villainous reveal.

    *Edit: Notice MvS's hair. How are we supposed to fear someone with bedhead?

    That looks like a vent or something behind him to me. While I can see how him sitting in a chair could be mistaken for him being that character in the throne room. I don't think he's in that throne room scene. I think he's just at home chatting with another character. Also Serkis stated he's playing ONE character that is Mo Cap

    I just want to highlight how dumb the idea of MvS recording lines for 8 and 9 so he can be mocapped is. The movies aren't written yet. Come on people get serious.

    I see that we confused many people with our update on the art description. For some time I have the art that was leaked today. It's a stolen property and I would never post it on the site. I showed it to @Eli Hyder to make a sketch of it so that we can share it on the boards in the thread about it. He did it and I posted it. Nothing is fake.
    Also although it looks weird that the only leaked art today is the one we described, we have nothing to do with the leak. And I can assure you that it was not stolen from us. There are more interesting things than these.

    That's actually some of the best speculating I've seen in the past few days, at least for originality. Hell, I'd be fine if they followed that route. Could be the possibility of even the Alliance/Republic higher-ups putting the "Fake Vader" in place in order to have someone who could possibly take over the Empire and broker a truce/peace.

    Bit of a stretch for my thought though. Those in-the-know (namely the Big Three) might remain mum on the subject if simply to end the conflict for even a little while. I feel like something similar to that has been done in a comic series or so, but can't remember which it might be.

    About the incendiary troops/vader pic… I noticed something else…


    To the left of Vader there are three very visible stormtroopers. Between the heads of the two directly at Vader’s left. There are some buildings in the background. You will see a strand of horizontal lights and to the left of that is a building I guess…


    Well…the pic of Max Von Sydow…behind him…you see very similar (what I guess are windows) and the room seems fairly “smoky” and even to the top right (our, the viewer’s, right) you see what looks almost like a puff of smoke. Is he inside the building being torched?


    It kind of gives me the feel that MVS is being hunted down to be killed in this scene, he looks like he accepts it, and is just relaxing until it happens. Like he has “done his job” and “accepts his fate”


    I am probably reaching, like I always do, but still…interested me.

    It seems to me that there is a very fine line between 'leaks', 'stolen properties' and 'official information.' I always thought that anything that is not revealed through the official channels (trailers and such) but 'leaked' is done so unofficially, without consent of the people actually owning the intellectual rights to what is 'leaked'.
    So my question is this: what paramaters do you guys use as to what to reveal or not? Who has the power to give the green light?

    Other than the dusky tones of red and yellow, I cannot see a relation. It also seems to be very early artwork, before the story arc of any of the characters were finalized and completed.
