Really, the Journey to the Force Awakens book really did not reveal much about TFA. It is strongly implied that Temmin Wexley from Aftermath is the x-wing pilot Snap Wexley. Other than mentions of criminal gangs in Smugglers run, this was pretty much it. Anything I missed?

There really wasn't much. But now that the film's out they can start to release stuff to fill in that time.

I think the fleet admiral at the end of Aftermath is the character Benicio Del Toro is playing in episode 8. He likely found Snoke in wild space.

Not sure if I want to pay out for a comic which tells me why C-3PO's arm is red and is only mentioned for a few seconds in TFA. ;)

It was just there to have a mild joke, it is probably not important to canon

One would assume that the stories being told happened before the events of TFA.

Why is no one debating whether or not Poe is force sensitive especially taking Shattered Empire into consideration? I still see people cling to Finn being force sensitive despite the fact that he shows no special abilities that wouldn't fit New Order training. People are so hung up on the fact that he uses the lightsaber but both times he gets absolutely trashed. On the other hand Poe can literally fly "anything" and he's practically a Jedi-in-his-prime when he's in his X-Wing. Force sensitivity has nothing to do with whether or not you "look" like a traditional Jedi but in your subtle abilities.

I had missed the connection on the Wexley name, nice catch - although Temmin (and his absurd droid) is possibly the worst addition to the new canon, hands down. Norra was a vastly more interesting character.

    His estranged father, perhaps?

^I see it's official via the SW Website - Snap Wexley is in fact Temmin. Hm. Of all the interesting new characters the new Canon Books have introduced, I'm surprised they went for that one - he is undoubtedly my least favourite character I have encountered in any of the books thus far. I guess we can "look forward" to more of him to come, especially in Wendig's trilogy. Hopefully he develops him better.

I guess he got the nickname Snap because he developed a habit of snapping his fingers. It said in Aftermath that he snapped his figures frequently, but he never did it in TFA. Really doesn't matter, though.
