Even if Disney "hates" the prequels. Um which they own now, they still love money so they won't disown it completely. To suggest that the capital planet of the GFFA won't make an appearance because of the Prequels is trolling. Golly perhaps they should drop humans too.

First, I love how some forum members now strap on the combat helmet & tighten the chin strap knowing full well other members will go on high alert, (lightsaber) .
I DO agree with the recent rumors/web content saying Lucas went see you suckers! to JJ & Disney when they backed away from his "creative suggestions". This might be why Arnst's SP was 86ed & the new screenplay reportedly started fresh & new.
I think Corcusant might be in a few brief scenes or maybe mentioned. Mon Marta(check spelling) might have been assassinated which led to Leia being "supreme leader". Her holding the demanding post for decades might lead to some of the B story or sub plot drama. Leia might be like Adama in both the Battlestar Gallatica shows. Tired, ready to end her career but pulled back into the conflicts because of traumatic events.

For me, the fact that the ST still features the Empire and Rebellion (al beit repackaged as the Resistance and First Order) necessitates some acknowledgement of the PT. The Resistance will want to understand the convoluted politics and machinations that lead to the birth of the Empire in order to challenge it, and that story is tied up with the rise of the Sith and the PT story. To not acknowledge the PT at all in TFA (and later ST episodes) would not only be an affront to those who enjoy those movies, but a savage and unnecessary assault on the saga as a whole, imo.

If the prequels had spoilt SW, Disney wouldn't have bought it. They know what they're doing..I hope.... ;)

It may or may not be relevant to the story which is a great reason to show it or not. They are not going to change the capital without explanation just cause some people associate it with the PT.

If Disney hates the PT so much why are all the Marvel SW titles running around PT locations. Leia's been on Naboo, Vader's been on Mustafar, Geonosis and Corsucant and even has outfitted himself with this own droid squadron.

You've made a pretty good point. The new comics are showing many things from the prequels. Even Padme showed up.

Rebels are showing more things from the PT than OT.
They're trying to tie-in the prequel era with the OT era. Why would they spend money and time doing this if they hate the PT?

We know from the set photo leaks and concept art that there is a Resistance base. This is obviously not on Coruscant. We know there is Jakku, the planet where the resistance base, the First Order castle planet, and the planet with Maz's castle( although their is a rumor that this is on the same planet as the Resistance base. I believe most of the scenes for the Resistance will be on the base and if you look at the planets we all ready know about being in the movie, there just is not enough time/space to squeeze it in. Therefore I say no we will not see Coruscant.

In the books, Coruscant not only continues to be the capital, but the structures of power are pretty much the same,.... Hope the film doesn't follow the books.

Don't forget her highness is now the daughter of the now respected Lord Vader who, after all, sacrificed his life to kill the evil emperor and to liberate the galaxy... What will be her role in the Republican government chosen by the people and for the people? Sorry Lea, I like you otherwise!

Yes, there are some in this forum that DARE the other camp to come after them after they knowingly take a shot at them...it's tiresome to the admin here..

As far as Coruscant is concerned, we need to remember that the Jedi Temple was there for OVER 1000 years (so a FEW people knew about it), and built on top of an ancient Sith shrine. The Jedi Temple there was THE largest collection of Jedi history and knowledge in the galaxy until Sheev took it over, and who knows what happened to it after that.

At any rate, (to me) it would only make sense that Luke would have at least traveled there once to attempt to glean any information from what remained of the temple on the Jedi history.....that's just me. Speculatively speaking, I think it should be perhaps at least mentioned by Leia (being the political type) as a nod to the PT and because it's been the seat of power in the Galaxy forever...figuratively speaking.

Whether we'll see it...maybe or not, but I think it should be at least mentioned.

Sidious converted the Temple into the imperial palace. Wonder if he kept the jedi relics and artefacts in that place or if he transported them to a secret storehouse on Coruscant or another location?

Exactly, and THAT is a question that I've asked before...would love to know the answer. I think it'll at least be written eventually if we don't actually get a mentioned reference to it. We wait! :)

Some sources state that we will see coruscant very briefly, simply a republic fleet in orbit about to enter hyperspace....

Which I believe... seems about right... dont have a lot of reason to disbelieve it.

I will say, for the haters of the prequels, wouldn't it be cool if JJ or Rian or whoever directs IX would add some prequel elements into the movies that had potential that maybe didn't live up to expectations and make them more Star Warsy? You could go back to Coruscant and show the effect the war had on it. Show a more beaten down and possibly gross Coruscant. Obviously you can't show the city where they show it in the SE because it looks the same, but maybe down in the area of that cantina or something. I liked the bottom of city the most, in Episode II.

Edit: having said that I don't think Coruscant is in VII. It could be in any of the 4 more films in the next 5 years tho.

Maybe Coruscant will just appear twice in the movie involving jedi briefings then other planets will be seen from then on.

Ralph McQuarries original art showed an dark atmospheric hell of a cityplanet not the stale and generic scifi metropolis of the prequels. It looked really ancient and ominous. This version i would LOVE to see finally realised in the ST!

Corcusant could devolve into the 1313 format as discussed but as of now, 2015, is OFF.

And I know from some of the rumors there is atleast one couch in the ST. So maybe...

I'm thinking Coruscant won't appear in the film, or at most briefly. Perhaps somewhere else in the ST, where relevant. I do actually wonder whose hands it's in.

That said, I do hope they feature it in another film. It actually was a pretty nice setting for Star Wars, provided you got out of the main parts a bit and explored the ruddier parts like they did in TCW.

I'd guess yes for the trilogy but no for TFA
