Ahsoka, aka Fulcrum, aka Rogue One? i dunno... when would the story take place if'n these names are all the same person? i wouldn't be against seeing an Ahsoka film; do you reckon they'd bring Vader back to the silver screen for it?

Wedge Antilles, or possibly another member of Rogue Squadron (formerly Red Squadron) is where I'd be putting my money.

Honestly, I doubt Ahsoka will survive Rebels.

I don't see Ahsoka surviving past the end of Rebels either. It would make no sense to have a Jedi working so closely with the Rebellion and to then just conveniently disappear when Luke comes on the scene later on.

I also am not sure that Wedge would be in Rogue One unless they recast him. It actually would seem easier to simply write a new batch of characters up for this film and have done with it.

Though if they take their cue at all from Stackpole's X-Wing novels (which were always my favorite of all the EU series) I'd say Felicity Jones could make an excellent Ysanne Isard.

Don't think we'll see Ahsoka. I don't think they would have put her in Rebels if they were going to put her in any of the films. I think her storyline ends with Rebels

I'm straddling both sides of the fence on this one. "Rogue" implies X-Wings when it comes to Star Wars. So, naturally I think most are imagining a SW Top Gun - type film.
However, Ahsoka is a Rogue Force-user. And she is incredibly popular. Will Disney try to cash in on this? It's tough to say now ... especially with season 2 of Rebels looming on the horizon.

Could "Rogue" still refer to the Bounty Hunter rumors? They are rouguish characters.

Perhaps a combination of two options? All three?

Yoda, and I assume a few other lived past events of Rebels why not Ahsoka?
I think perhaps Ahsoka will be the rogue one, because Disney will want to honor the clone wars tv series fans, and cash in on her since they use her at the star wars section of their park. But they could also merge the two x-wings and Ahsoka, seeing she was the helping point of starting the rebel alliance, why can't she be the starting point of helping to form the X-wing squad?

Anything is possible, but not all things are good. What if Ahsoka was the leader of the rebellion all along? She could be the brains behind mon mothma and survive to train Luke after ROTJ. In fact, Yoda could have known about her, and had her as part of the plan all along. Or what if anakin had 2 apprentices?! After Ahsoka and before ROTS, the council could've given him a second apprentice who survices order 66, is actually, super for real this time, behind the rebellion, and has an epic fight with vader and the emperor in ROTJ, softening them up for Luke.

I'm being ridiculous to make a point. We can't let our fandom keep us for realizing what is best for the story.

Yoda does know about her in the clone wars cartoon he and obi-wan trick Anakin into taking her as a padawan.

In my farcical rant, I wasn't being clear. What I meant was that Yoda could've known about Ashoka being part of the rebellion and had her as the back up plan for destroying the emperor. But please don't read into this, I was trying to be daft on purpose to illustrate the notion that all which is possible is not likely or even desirable.

Who knows? Maybe! And you know what... Maybe Rebels leads to Rogue One... maybe that's the plan.

    Maybe it's Bail Organa.

Why Rebels characters won't have more than a Cameo in the Star Wars movies:

Only a small population of children and Star Wars super-fans know who the characters from Rebels are. In order to bring them into the Star Wars movies, their back stories would have to hashed out again for the the hundreds of thousands of people that do not watch the show. It is just easier to create new characters in the Star Wars universe because it keeps things entertaining for both hardcore fans and your average fans.

While I agree that Rebels characters aren't likely to have a big movie presence i disagree with your reasoning.

Did you see X-men: the last stand? Ignore that it wasn't very good for a second. Were audiences too confused by the juggernaut? How could they possible keep up with a character that has decades of history in the comics? Turns out it doesn't matter. Almost every super hero film uses prior heroes and villains without confusing the audience.

If Rogue one needs a small sequence with a bounty hunter, the average audience member won't know the different between Ventress and Troolzoor, the new creation. But fans would get a little more out of the sequence.

Or if you are a hardcore EU nerd, if they need a hacker for Rogue one, use Ghent rather than another nameless nobody.

    I'm not an X-men fan.

Going back to a character like Ventress. Yes fans will get more out of the sequence. But that means that hundreds of thousands of people will get LESS from a sequence like that. The only way for those fans to get that sort of impact is to hash out Ventress's back-story on-screen, which would be a bit of a drag for the hardcore fan that knows all about her. What's nice about new characters is it's a level playing field for everyone. But that's also why a character like Ventress could have a cameo scene of some kind, because it would mean more to the hardcore fan.

I'll try to make my argument more generic for non-superhero fans.

Why would hundreds of thousands of people get less from the sequence if ventress were in it? I'd argue they would be none the wiser.

Do you think the millions that saw empire strikes back in theaters got less out of boba fett if they didn't see the holiday special?

I'd argue that every movie needs dozens of supporting characters, most of which will be new to the audience. They wouldn't know or care that there was some book giving the backstory to all the bounty hunters from Empire strikes back or if there was a comic about Leia's bodyguard.

    YES!
    Troolzoor! He's my favorite guy!
F**k yeah! TFA is going to be the best movie ever!!!

    ---------------------------------------------------

Seriously, what is wrong with people these days? Why do you think you can't introduce a character in a single scene or four words of dialogue?

Brand new, cribbed and re-purposed from EU, or something from an ancillary piece, they just need to walk or appear on the screen.

Bossk, IG-88, Zukuss and 4-Lom only ever had one non-speaking scene. Dengar had two - the same scene, and standing in the background in Jabba's palace in RotJ. Lobot never said anything.

Yet before the EU existed as a thing we knew who they were

It's a lot easier to introduce characters then you think. Especially if you're a good writer or storyteller.

It's even easier if they drag them in from somewhere else. Look at Aurra Sing. She started in the EU and Lucas liked her look so he just stuck her in the Phantom Menace during the Pod Racing scene.

The Outrider also appeared in the background.

    Did people get confused? No.
