SPECULATION Could Rose/Kelly Marie Tran replace Gina Carano?

Unless they pull out some World Between Worlds stuff, the timelines wouldn't work by a longshot. The Mandalorian takes place roughly five years after ROTJ. TFA & TLJ take place thirty years after ROTJ.
Even beyond that, Rose and Cara don't have the same physicality or even role in their respective stories as the other.
Was Rose underused and incomplete? Absolutely. Most ST exclusive characters not named Rey or Ben/Kylo Ren were underused and incomplete. But that just means they deserve their own stories, not as replacements for other ones that took place either before they were born or when they were babies.

EDIT: KMT playing another role in the Star Wars universe is always possible, and she wouldn't be the first person to do so. But given the backlash to her role in TLJ and all of her cut screen-time in TROS, I wouldn't be surprised if she simply wants to use Star Wars a stepping stone for greater stuff in the future. And if KMT does want to come back, I hope Lucasfilm gives Rose her own show.

 

Baby Yoda is from a species that we know has a long lifespan, so it makes some sense. If Rose has been identified as human, there isn't a real need to change that now. Again, what the character of Rose needs is to be a main character in her own show, not a side character in another person's story...again. Besides, there are rumors and speculation that Hera may take Cara's place. I think that's a more appropriate switch, at least temperament-wise.

No. No replacement. Too much controversy. Just be done with the character.

 

No need to replace Cara Dune. She had an arc and can get on with her life off-screne, no problem. As for a new bad-a** female lead, Bo-Katana is going to fill that role for as long as the Reclaiming Mandalore story arc is playing out (possibly for several season).

There are loads of interesting women characters in Mando already -- Ahsoka, Fennec Shand, Peli Motto, Xi'an (the Twi'lek rogue), Frog Lady, Sash Ketter (Debora Chow's X-wing pilot), Morgan Elsbeth (Magistrate of Calodan), Omera (the village leader on Sorgan), the Armorer, Gideon's unnamed comms officer -- and I'm sure we'll get even more awsome females onboard as the story roles on. The more the merrier! :-D

As for Kelly Marie Tran, I don't think she'll show up in Mando (and definitely not as Rose Tico), but she (Tran as Tico) may very well have a central role in the 2023 Rogue Squadron movie which it sounded like would take place post-TRoS. And that'd be rad! :-D

 

Nah the timelines don't match. Also, I doubt they'd ever cast her to play a second character in the universe unless said character was CG'd. It's not like Rose is just an extra or something, seeing Kelly's face on a character that isn't Rose would just be odd.

Also I can't imagine it would go over well with... some people.

Nobody should be attacking ANY actor for their character portrayal in my book. It's wrong, period. I would opine that the anger and frustration that motivated such trollish online behavior was because of the TLJ script.

When it came to Finn, ST film script #1 set up one thing while ST film script #2 changed course entirely, upsetting many TFA fans. But when it comes to the three ST scripts, consider it par for the course.

 

There’s more chance of George Lucas being cast as a replacement part.
