Could this have originally been Kylo Ren's lightsaber? (contains spoilers from Rebels)

    So this is in the trailer for the 2nd half of the current season of Star Wars: Rebels where Ahsoka, Kanan, Ezra go to some Jedi ruins it looks like and Ezra finds this.

    I don't know if it was ever stated that Kylo actually built his saber or crafted his saber from this design? What if this was originally his saber that he found and just switched the green crystal out for the cracked red one? Or did he just find the schematic for this kind of lightsaber and made one based off this. Thoughts? Opinions?
