    Hi All! Been hanging about for a few months now and commenting a bit: wanted to post my first thread for discussion.

    For those who are unaware (most are, I'm assuming) - there was an interview on a Japanese TV talk show with Daisy Ridley and Kathleen Kennedy a while back.

    This clip has been much discussed because of what is said by KK on "Family" being important in SW and how great Daisy is about family.

    Further, Daisy herself makes some comments about her character starting off "solitary" and that it's clue to who her family is. There's much blushing and giggling involved.

    There is a commentary from NerdAlert before and after, but the main idea is to watch and discuss the interview.

    Did they slip up? Or are people reading too much into it? How about the idea that it was intentional misinformation?

    Also - how does this jibe with other rumors?

    They're definitely not reading too much by acknowledging a correlation between "solitary" and "solo" so I can only see 3 possibilities:

    1. All-but-confirmed daughter of Han Solo
    2. Amazing series of coincidences setting up the illusion of 1
    3. Daisy is as shifty as JJ and Pegg and purposely set up the illusion of 1 in order to misdirect

    I'd then have to wager that 1 is the correct answer and Rey is now all-but-confirmed Han's daughter. I'm giving Daisy the ethical benefit of the doubt. But then this wrecks the Rey Skywalker theory, so how does the Skywalker name continue? Kylo is Luke's son? Then who's the mother? ARGH! THESE PRETZELS. ARE MAKING ME THIRSTY!!!

    She would never be allowed to drop such an obvious hint. This movie is so secrety that they're forgoing awards nominations (even for easy wins like score, visuals, etc) and losing Xmas money from the hardcover novel to avoid anything leaking out. Oscar Isaac and Domnhall Gleeson dropped tiny bits accidentally and seemed terrified for their lives. Does this seem at all consistent with Daisy blabbing it to the world.

    well, here's an update! (sort of)

    More fun to debate if it means anything or not...


    Daisy posted to Instagram about the Time mag photos released today. Could be nothing at all...but seems like a fairly obvious tease considering she had to grab 4 of the available photos and splice them together in this exact way.

    Exactly! I mean, the TIME magazine have pictures from most of the cast (Gwendoline Christie, Oscar Isaacs, Mark Hamill, John Boyega, etc) Why she picked those three aside hers???

    I don't know what all the others involved are trying to do, but I doubt very much that Ridley herself would be involved in any misdirection campaigns. So it's either accidnetly intentional, coincidence or reading too much into it.

    Maybe. But what it isn't, is misdirection. I can't see her deliberately misleading anyone. That's a game for a more sophisticated actor, in my opinion. To me she also just seems like too nice a girl for that.
