For me he does the opposite. If he is Plagueis then Sidious legitimately took him down but just didn't know he survived. It also shows how Plagueis knew that only Sidious had the ability to manoeuvre himself into the position of Emperor. Plagueis needed Sidious though of course planned to get rid of him later and replace him with Anakin, his creation. It takes nothing away from Sidious. And although mortally wounded it takes nothing away from Plagueis as he wanted to test his death defying powers and was always going to operate behind the scenes.

Plagueis only reappearing once Sidious is dead also shows the might of the Emperor and that only the chosen one had the power to take him down.

If Snoke is Snoke then he likely stayed out of the way all along, whilst the Sith took over, as he never could have stood up to them. Or if he is more powerful and does a better job then he really will undermine Sidious.

As to your point, yes that makes perfect sense and doesn't require a load of exposition or an offscreen event involving Luke or Vader that we'll never see and will be tacked on. You get decrepit when you use the dark side, but you don't get saber shaped holes in your head. It has Sidious written all over it.

    Again, Plagueis is perfect.

Well, at least we now officialy know that Luke doesn't want to be Jedi anymore.

At least, for what its worth, we have legitimate possibility Snoke could be Sith who left Sith ways to.

soooo...with all the latest new information i think we're moving beyond 'is snoke a new character'? to is snoke darth plagueis or based heavily off our guy (so its basically him). watching ben from the womb, big one for DP and those guards are based off DP sith guards. snoke has a lot of money! well DP just happened to be involved in finance.

and the trailier....sounds like luke wants to cancel out the jedi! restore balance, as it were. what could be so big and bad on the dark side that that would be neccesary? someone that single handedly prolonged the jedi through a superpowered bloodline? the master meddler of course, darth plagueis. even though he's messed up he is probably still on a very high level as a force user. supreme leader indeed.

another point about snoke is that he is dispensing teachers and training to kylo. something with some sort of lineage, something he presumably learnt and is passing on! i wonder what it could be (sith).

Again old rumor now claimed to be a leak,in this case a "confirmation" of the old rumor.

    Acording to this "leak" http://movieweb.com/star-wars-last-jedi-opening-scene-snoke-vs-leia/
nobody knows true name of the powerfull Dark Side figure they met in unknown Regions. Since, Leia and Luke coined an acronym SNOKE.(Sith No One Knew Existed)

Well if it is Sith No One Knew Existed (S.N.O.K.E.)it can be Darth Plagueis the Wise who survived Palpatines's assassination. Only Plapatine and Vader knew he existed, (Palpatine told his story to Anakin in theater), and they are both now dead, so nobody in entire Galaxy knew (or expected, judging by the Sith rule of 2) that another Sith could exist , in this case Plagueis who found a way to survive and vent to unknown regions. In fact, if this is true, than nobody knows his true name so they coined an acronym since they encountered Sith no one knew existed.

It is said Snoke is no more a Sith, and maybe he is not Plaguesi of course, but the acronym SNOKE fitts perfectly since Lea and Luke certainly didn't expected he existed, and frankly only Dark Side wielders they knew could exist were Sith, who should be exitinct, but jet they thought obviously they encountered another of such kind.

    SNOKE.(Sith No One Knew Existed)

I think that article's based on the BS Reddit leak that is making the rounds. The article itself seems to be based heavily around speculation and doesn't have a lot of concrete evidence.

This "BS" does deliver highly believable acronym, and logical acronym.

Whoever met Snoke for the First time he noticed this his properties:

1.he is a powerfull Dark Side wielder.

2.he was not to be expected to exsist (except by Palpatine who is dead)

3.no one alive indeed knew such fugure existed

Now for anyone in the galaxy been a Dark side wielder is very close to a Sith, we could say the difference is academic. Why should they (Lea, Luke, whoever coined S.n.o.k.e acronym) not intially and still believe he was a Sith?

Did Snoke asked a 5 minutes on global galactic TV to explain : "look, my name is Snoke ( who loughs gets special treatment after I win).. I am not a Sith I am different type of dark side weilder so please do not whisper I am godamn Sith they are dead and I am not one of those".

Or, maybe Snoke as an acronim -Sith No One Knew Existed - is a leftower from early phases of development of the story when Snoke indeed was supposed to be some Sith, so a name, first designed as an acronym, stayed in the story that developed in different dirrection?

Stll Snoke as a personal name for such mighty ,bad ,ugly , ambitious and mean guy is underwhelming.

Interesting, in this deleted scene even film dirrector doesn't count Snoke as very serrious name.

The story is set in stone: Sidious Killed Plagueis. Something Pablo has been crystal clear about for years now.

Snoke's identity is.......SNOKE! Snoke is a new character.

Pablo has just defined his "debunking" of Plagueis as " certain point of view"

Snoke's identity is not set in stone.

Plagueis being killed by sidious is set in stone...it's on film.

Nothing about Snoke's story/identity is set in stone because it hasn't been told yet.

    1. Why is Plagueis a "certain point of view" character? There is no canon evidence that he was ever written as that kind of character. Plagueis is not an "anakin character" and there's never been a suggestion of that. .

    2. Nothing you've quoted from Pablo is walking back from his crystal clear tweets that a) Snoke and Plagueis are physically two seperate characters, b) Plagueis is actually dead, physically dead, not "metaphorically dead"

This was tweeted after your links to his comments, again Pablo isn't walking this back.

    3. "No mapped story beyond TFA" actually damages the Plagueis myth.

But if you read what Rian Johnson says, he had no any mapped story beyond TFA. So he had a freedom.

If he decided that early draft of Snoke been some new character is not so plausible at all or that he thinks Snoke needs some elaborate backstory, because of developing story he made day by day, , he could change that or not?

Isn't that strange that anything was possible for Johnson to do in ep VIII, except deciding for himself the identity of Snoke in a way it can not be Plagueis no way, stoned?

    Strange.Paradoxicall.

I mean you do understand Pablo has just got perfect explanation if Snoke is Plagueis, the fillmaker had absolute freedom.

Rian has freedom within a set of pre-defined rules. Rian can't just bring back han solo and then claim "it's all a dream". Han is dead.

That's why Rian works with the Story Group. He has freedom to create a story, but he can't go mental with it. He can't decide that han's no longer dead, he can't decide plagueis is no longer dead, he can't decide that anakins lightsabre is actually orange. There are borders to his freedom that keep canon actually making sense.

I do not see in Rian text that he had any pre-defined rules. In fact , if I understad he says Story group had some pre-defined rules in plan but he got no one when they came to him to start Ep. VIII. Which means rules were weak, and even maybe shown to be not that good.

Han - is Dead we sough this.

    Nobody sough Plagueis dead.

I see the story was left open to such extent that Snoke could have been decided to be anyone, including Plagueis.

You are coming from a point where you assume that it is the perfect explanation, when it is actually retconning the story laid out by Lucas.
That's your bias but what if this quote is just about what it is, the story progression as laid out. And it is part of the story that the death of plagueis mirrored the Death of Papatine bey the apprentice and works at best to lure Anikin to the Dark Side.
for example you can't make Finn an resistance infiltrator, since we saw a pic of him as a child in the FO database.
