SPECULATION Darth Vader cameo?

I agree with you, what i always had in mind was more of an off screen presence for Vader. Like the Rebels breaking into imperial bases and mentioning how they need to get in and out in so much time before Vader can arrive and so on. I would love to have Tarkin be the main Imperial bad guy in the film to.

This story culminates with ANH in that the events take place just before ANH and it ties in directly with the main event in ANH. Considering that the Tantive was subdued and boarded on the grounds that the stolen Death Star plans were onboard and the boarding party was led by none other than the Dark Lord himself, it would seem one could postulate that Vader is highly involved with the retrieval of said plans. It's very likely that ol Palps would have had Vader all up in the mix if someone were to let's say accidentally misplace the death star plans, hint hint wink wink. It makes perfect sense that D Vade would be involved in some fashion with RO although I can't see anything more than an appearance as you don't want to over do it but better as an overall looming presence of threat. We will have the Grand Moff afterall and I'm pretty sure we are all aware of what an angel he is.

 

I agree, and remember too that Vader was working closely with (or possibly even under the orders of) Tarkin in ANH, doing his wet work for him and so forth. It would make perfect sense that Vader would make at least a brief appearance in Rogue One.

However, I wouldn't expect him to play a particularly large role. From what we've heard, Rogue One sounds very much like it's going to be a soldiers' story, and not so much about the "brass" in charge of the conflict.

I really don't want him to appear beyond maybe a small cameo. If the major saga characters keep appearing, the anthology films basically turn into Extended Editions rather than actual spinoffs.

 

I see Vader choking a few people, here and there, both with his hand and the force, and report to Tarkin. It would be near the end, after he kills the Moff or whichever Imperial fails in protecting the plans. But I figure the idea with "no force powers" means he would meet the Moff in person and kill him.

 

I was hoping see him come to the bridge of the Avenger kill the Moff before pursuing Tantive IV.

 

Maybe throughout the film, characters talk about Vader but they never meet him. At the end, Vader shows up and slaughters everyone.
