SPECULATION Darth Vader in Rogue One?

i think he needs to be in it, since he is the one that leads the hunt,,, who knows, he might even be the "main-lead" that would be an interesting twist: a villain having the biggest role in a movie anyway: i hope we get to see a lot of r2d2 in the movie

 

If he's in it, we probably won't see his LIGHTSABER being used...or we will hear his name being spoken in hushed tones like with Voldemort...or something like that .

 

It's Star Wars...it will easily make $1 BILLION .

 

Vader's definitely making an appearance, whether it be as a major villain or just a cameo.

 

YES he must be in the movie, he is leading the hunt for the stolen Death Star plans. (He should have screentime equal to ANH or more)

from a marketing/moneymaking point of view it makes a lot of sense to have Vader as the main lead & the oppurtunity to make tons of new vadertoys&merchandise must be very temping & too good to pass on. Plus we could get a lot of new insight in how he feels & thinks when being Vader at his worst. An interesting idea would be to see him inside his meditation chamber looking at holograms of ObiWan & Padmé (& maybe Cliegg Lars) talking to himself, cursing them all, including the weakness of Anakin (who he could be viewing as someone seperate from his darkside alter ego)

Another interesting idea would be to have him remove the helmet & mend his unhealed scars & wounds in great pain with a tear running down his cheek, fueling his anger & obsession to destroy all resistance. If he is portrayed as blinded by hate & revenge, it could explain a lot that happens in ep.IV-VI, including the inability to sense his own children. So I really hope we see much of him & then another question arises: do we want to see emperor Palpatine in the movie ?

 

Vader should be the unstoppable force pursuing the team that has taken the plans.

 

Vader is too valuable to the brand for unleashing him on a spin off unless it's focused on him .

It makes perfect sense to me that Vader would be in Rogue One. ANH begins with Vader chasing Leia's ship in order to retrieve the Death Star plans so he would likely be involved in hunting down the Rogue One team as well. Also Vader is an extremely recognizable character which would definitely help with the marketing campaign.

 

In my mind, Vader needs to be in it. HOWEVER, he does not need a lot of dialogue and we don't need to care about his character because we already do this. He needs to be the weapon that finishes and kills off our heroes at the end of the film. He will be used to frighten and terrorize our heroes because this is what Vader should be doing in his Prime.

 

We know that the story will focus on non-force users. I think it would be great if Vader is played as the ominous, overwhelming supernatural enemy that ordinary Rebel fighters struggle to overcome. The best genre example of this is, of course, the Hobbit characters in Lord of the Rings - most of all Frodo Baggins: not a warrior or a prince or a wizard, yet he decides to basically enter into Hell and confront Satan himself, and this is what makes him one of the great heroes of the fantasy genre. In other words: Darth Vader as the ominous Sauron figure: an ever-present threat who nevertheless remains in the background, and is all the more frightening because of it.

Now I'm not suggesting that there should be any other parallels between R1 and LOTR. All I'm saying is that this scenario of ordinary people who go up against a supernatural threat with nothing but their bravery and selfless desire to help others can make for great heroism, character development, and drama.

 

- No Vader (maybe only his voice or a one time hologram)
- No lightsabers
- No Jedi's

If Vader doesn't straight up murder everyone I'mma be disappointed.

Obviously there will be no Jedi and obviously there will be spectacular war movie stuff. And obviously Vader shouldn't be in the whole thing. He'll be the icing on the cake. I want to see Darth Vader waiting for whoever has the balls to blast past all of those stormtroopers and I want to see him go full Sith Lord on them. That would be amazing.
