As long as he's not ludicrously powerful (I'm talking like Starkiller in TFU levels), then it's all good by me.

These are my thoughts exactly. Vader should be beaten to an inch of his life towards the end of the film so it matches up with his limited capacity in the OT.

in the OT Darth Vader didn't have any reason to show his full abilities, on the Tantive 4 his troops were more than enough to win, on the Death Star he wanted our heroes to escape (except for Obi Wan) so that they could lead the empire to the rebel base, only in the end he needed to fight and he used his ship. Tthe same in the empire strikes back and return of the jedi, we never saw him in need to directly fight against a group of rebels on the ground, so in my opinion there is no need for him to be beaten in this movie.
He should be like a tank that goes from A to B with no one able to stop him, no need of superspeed or fancy moves, just a slow and costant walk blocking everything that is thrown at him while all his enemies try to find a way to stop him, realising in the end that they can't do anything and so starting to slow him down so that one of them can escape to bring the death star plans away. I think it would be a good final scene for the movie.

Ya I wanna see Vader do so major sh*t and not walking around with stormtroopers while he just stands there and mumbles "That's the ship that stole the plans"

I don't want to see "acrobatic Vader." I've never liked that idea. It makes little sense and he's much scarier (imo) if he's like a battle tank. Deliberate, powerful, methodical, and nigh-unstoppable.

Great point here! Some sort of AOTC Yoda? (pinball-Red Bull Yoda) Please NO!!!

As you said "Deliberate, powerful, methodical, and unstoppable" and doing incredible things with the force (like the Vader Down comic) that's the Vader I would like to see in R1...

Vader was at his best in Rise of Darth Vader and Lords of the Sith. If he's even little like that in Rogue One than there is no doubt that he'll deliver.

On the other hand, I'm more concerned about James Earl Jones. His voice in Rebels did not actually sounded like the classic Vader, so that's my greatest fear actually...

I actually thought that he sounded rather good in Rebels. And if need be, perhaps they could modulate his voice somewhat.

If we compare the two duels between Kenobi and Anakin/Vader, the first one was very acrobatic and powerful in ROTS. But in ANH, their second encounter would qualify as a pillow fight. His duels with Luke were low power compared to his days as Anakin. Yeah, I get it was the 80's and the expectations were different, but they have now the opportunity to fix this gap via Rogue One. We have already seen an acrobatic and powerful Vader at the beginning of Rebels Season 2.
So, if we're going to see a brutal Vader, I'm cool as long as something bad happens to him at the end.

If something bad happens it can't be him losing in another duel. This will really screw things up and force me to become a billionaire to buy Disney and do a complete remake on everything.

With him battling Ahsoka in Rebels, I think she survives and hope shes in R1. Vader cant lose but I think he's more on a killing spree in R1 do to them losing the plans. seeing another vader/ahsoka battle in a darker movie like R1 would make it seem like ahsoka die for a cause to help the rebels. Its good they show more of vader and the darkside of him cause in the OT they just talk about light/dark.

He doesn't need to lose. He just could get additional injuries after a fight.

I must admit when I first read the rumors about Vaders scenes in R1 I had a vision in my head of him taking on a barrage and coming out of it worse for wear but after reading your post your premise makes more sense. It also reminds me of the scene in the New Hope novel were he confronts Leia. She spits at him and it sizzles on his armor.

In rebels Darth Vader doesnt really do as much. only when he fights Kanan/Ezra and the upcoming duel with Ahsoka. He sends out bounty hunters on the OT but when it comes to Obi/Luke he duels them. to read how its going to be darker and more brutal fight scenes with Darth Vader only wants me to believe that he is destructive and putting a Kanan or Ahsoka in R1 to have the brutal lightsaber duel would be awesome. At this point he only meets Kanan and Ahsoka. Do they put in Obi Wan before ANH with him. they are trying to find the last of the jedi and he just found out the Ahsoka is alive and Kanan is a surviving jedi. R1 would be good to add a lightsaber match with Vader coming out on top but to know that either Kanan or Ahsoka fought for the greater good. thats just my thinking of the matter. cause if not them then Vader brutal scene would be him just hacking and choking everythign in his path.

May the force be with you always...

We'll apparently see "decapitated rebels, people being dismembered by Vader throwing his sword [and] levitating bodies to make human shields" in the battle sequences. Several suits of armour have been built for Vader in the film, including a stunt version.

We've already seen Vader throw his Saber at Luke. We've already seen Vader levitating objects from walls and shot at Luke. But I can see where Vader lifts up a dead storm trooper and uses it as a shield, since we have seen photos of many dead storm troopers at a beach like area with a destroyed lander craft.

If this really happens about Vader doing this kind of action on battle fields the movie will be a hit.

actually I feel that the duel in ANH is one of the most realistic in the whole series and before you kill me, let me tell you why.
In that duel you se them covering their weakness with their weapon and stance and then testing their opponent for holes in their defenses. this is how you would fight in real life.
in the prequels they are jumping around like circus clowns or acrobats and would have been cut down multiple times and while I admit it looks cool and all it isn't realistic. the only fight thats a little realistic in the prequels is the duel in TPM and maybe thats because the darth maul actor is a martial artist in real life and knew what he was doing.
Another thing that bothers me in the prequel sword fights is that it is clear that they are running a rehearse dance where they sort of try to hit each others weapons and not their opponent.

now you may be thinking where I have this expirience ??? I have been doing martial art inc. ken-jutsu for 15 years
but dont get me wrong I get it as why they chose to make the sword fights so flashy, it looks great but realistic it ain't and there is nothing wrong whit the duel between vader and kenobi in ANH
