SPECULATION Darth Vader in Rogue One?

Since this is a Spoiler tagged forum and it's already being speculated. I'm going to just say what I have heard about the Teaser.... If what my guy is telling me is true which he was almost perfect for TFA.

There has been something tested with Vader and the teaser or full trailer. I was told that they may not use it until one of the final trailers. They don't want people thinking this movie is about Vader.

 

That would make the most sense for holding out until almost he very last second if they can which is something malt movies these days don't do .

 

Hello everyone! I'm new to the Cantina, and Im looking forward to chatting with you guys in the future. In my opinion I think it wouldn't ruin, but somewhat take away the iconic Vader entrance in Star Wars (1977) during the opening of the movie. If Darth Vader is going to have a huge reveal in Rogue one, id like it to be very a memorable, unique and bonechilling one. I can imagine a scene with pure silence, where one of the rebels is in a dark room possibly hiding or trying to find something of importance, and all we hear is a slam and then the iconic darth vader breathing sound seconds later. I also don't want the reveal to happen near the end of the movie, if you're going to put Vader in the movie, give him more than 10 seconds of screen time.

 

I think that it would be cool to reveal him sort of like a demon thing from a horror movie. Sort of like the rebels can "feel" like they're being watched and are nervous. Vader starts attacking them from the shadows and then descends down onto one of the main characters who look up to this terrifying beast who has casually taken out everyone so swiftly and easily...I think it would be his first real show of power aince becoming Vader as a cyborg .

 

Quite a good point. Being that there were others ranked higher then Vader before "Empire Strikes Back" including grand moff Tarkin. It wouldn't surprise me if a scene in the movie similar to your point would actually happen. Im also interested into seeing how Darth Vader's helmet is going to look. Will it be similar the the helmet in Star Wars (1977) or will it carry a shinier new look like it did in Revenge of the Sith.

 

O think it will be in between sort of like how we see the clones helmets slowly changing into storm trooper helmets .

 

I have seen people speculate that you can indeed hear Vader's respirator in this trailer, but before i found out myself, i didn't know if this was even real or even where in occurred in the trailer.

It occurs at the very end, after Forest Whitaker voice over/dialogue. After he finishes saying "what will you become", it is very faint, but you can hear what sounds very much like Vader's respirator.
(if you have a hard time hearing it, play it in slow motion or just spam click the space bar to pause and play)

Not the beginning parts of his breathing cycle that has become iconic in cinema and pop culture that it would be easily identifiable. We only hear the very end of what one of his breathing cycles would be, where the sound trails off into silence.

Personally, i think a tease like this is enough. Maybe in the later trailers they could put the full breathing cycle fo Vader in, but until the film, i don't want to see his mask or anything like that. What do you think?

 

I think it's too much of a stretch. But Vader is 100% in the movie. Disney are not idiots and they know that a new movie with Darth Vader himself is a gold mine. In a full trailer they will indicate that he's in the movie, the same way they did with Spider-man and the Civil War.

 

I want to see Vader in the upcoming trailers those weapons on Felicity's back look like shotos so a encounter could be possible with him or that hooded baddie.

 

I don't want to see Vader per se, but an indicator would be immense. A shot of a red saber in the darkness, or his glove coming into shot before fading out. Something tangible but nothing to give away the big reveal - save that for the movie!

 

I recall reading a few months ago (I can't remember where), they had made 4-5 Vader suits for his battle against the rebels. Said the battle would be epic.

 

No man, it's just an echo that resembles his breathing. I downloaded HQ version, tuned it to max and there is no signature proof whatsoever :/

 

That would a great scene.

 

I would love for just a small reveal in the main trailer, with the screen going to black and just the sound of his respirator that would be fantastic. I think they have done an AMAZING job to keep it all a secret if he truly is in the film.

Also prepping myself for negatives, I hope it is Hayden Christensen playing him.

 

I like how we don't have Vader in this trailer and gives focus on the new characters. I do think we will see him in the main trailer because it will seal the deal on doubters or any confusion. Cannot wait, I don't want to see any action though, leave it for the movie!

 

I would like to see Vader from afar, across a battlefield wreaking havoc and damage on the Rebels but not have a spoken role in the story. I'd like to see him pull and entire cliff side down on and encampment of Rebels. An entire platoon hanging in force choke. You might hear him but not saying anything directly related to the main story. I just want to see him being brutal and feared. Like Rebels running in terror with Vader on their heals.

 

I definitely think Vader will be in this movie.. I have a hunch. And seeing the timeline of this movie and what it is about I would not doubt it.

 

I think it's confirmed. Correct me if i'm wrong but i think those shadow troopers are specific troopers that flank Vader in battle.
If that's wrong, still, with all the rumors and speculation, Vader being in this movie is more likely than "R + L = J" at this point...
