With the release of Solo: A Star Wars Story: Tales from Vandor comes the long awaited (by some) return of Dash Rendar:

Might this just be the writers of that book having a little fun, or ma we one day see Dash return to canon in other media, games or even live action?

I always liked the character, accepting that yes, he really was a Han Solo substitute between ESB and RotJ. Having devoured anything Shadows of the Empire related back in the day, I think a nod like this is awesome.

Especially since the character is apparently very polarizing over at Lucasfilm.

Here's hoping they will reintegrate Shadows back in canon, albeit with some tweaks. It introduced a great deal of the underworld of Star Wars, so it can also have links to Solo.
Hell, if they can , they might find a way for this, too.

And a Lego YT-2400 Outrider?? Hell yes!!

That's brilliant. "If I'm around you don't need that guy" because he was literally a stand-in for Han between V and VI :p

I've always thought Dash was pretty cool, even if he's a bit redundant. But call me when they bring Kyle Katarn back to canon.

Ooh yes.. Better still, make it a Mysteries of the Sith version, which means LEGO MARA JADE !

Anyhoo, I see a part of my original post is missing. It talked about a way to incorporate SotE into the new canon, comparing it with Thrawn at the end of Season 4. Even though it's been a while, I'll post it in spoiler tags.
So at the end of Rebels S4, thanks to some Purgil action, Thrawn (with Ezra) ends up somewhere in deep space, possibly the Unknown Regions. This explains why he isn't around during the OT. This could also mean he could be back sometime after RotJ. Maybe even tying him to the origins of the First Order and other ST happenings. Anyhoo, this lines up with Thrawn from the old EU. In those stories, he witnessed the battle at Endor, taking reign of the Empire sometime after that. So with some tweaks, the old Thrawn trilogy might still work in the new canon. Perhaps they find a way to do this with SotE, too.

Again, SotE is a great way to introduce some SW underworld stories, tying to Solo and even to that rumoured Mos Eisley film..

I would appreciate a Goodfellas/Godfather take on the SW underworld. Throwing in Dash, Talon Karrde and Mara could be fun.

My guess is this is just an Easter Egg, albeit a really clever one.

Still, I'd be down for Dash to return. If Solo gets a sequel, he could be a great foil to Han, sort of a mirror of himself that he doesn't even realize. Stuff like Dash crashing the Outrider Han-style, and Han hypocritically criticizing its piloting skills, or having his own variation of "I have a bad feeling about this" that drives Han nuts.
