I think she wanted to spend time with her family for a while - I believe she'd been pregnant and had a kid not too long after Monster was released. Don't quote me on that, though.

I think she was tabbed to do it before the DCEU was a thing but was pregnant and couldn't do it so WB scrapped it.
So I'm pretty sure that's part of it.

No but IMO it colored her priories different. She was still a "hot" talent but with a family and a massive hit under her belt, she could afford to be really picky. Not many directors are gonna back off a Marvel project like she did. But it wasn't right. She held out until WW and now she is one of the hottest names out there.

Aye, but raisin' a kid isn't exactly something that takes care of itself.

Had she directed Thor: The Dark World like she was originally going to, then she would have made her first movie in 10 years.

Saw this on the Episode IX Colin Trevorrow thread:
    Peter Sciretta(via Twitter):
"Also occurs to me that [Colin] Trevorrow is in a no win situation with Episode 9. If it's good people will credit the lead in from JJ/RJ.."
"...if it's bad it's CT's fault. It's like the Justice League situation: Whatever's good will be credited to Joss, everything bad to Snyder."

I love seeing a (from my understanding) respected journalist also identifying the no-win territory Snyder is in. So many have forgotten the great films he has made. It's all about "What have you done for me lately" when it comes to actors and directors. And the Anti-Snyder hate bandwagon is moving forward full-steam. Watchmen and 300 are distant memories. And even Sucker Punch is technically a well-made film. All the complaints of that one are simply "it sucks", and all from guys from what I have seen. No one ever gives details as to what specifically is bad about it. Look at the fundamentals(which is something usually ignored on RT - hence why I ignore that site).
Writing: Incoherrent script or rehashed, unimaginative story? - NOPE, it's a very well-formed screenplay and very new, creative story.
Direction: Scenes not flowing or bad acting? Nope, very good scene flow and acting
Editing: Jumbled/counter-intuitive presentation? Nope(though this point is not as strong as the others)
Score/Production: Bad overall design? Poor or mismatched score? Nope and nope.
So the story has to be what makes "it suck". And the only conclusion I can come up with is that the problem must be "chics kicking ass".(more specifically, "regular chics").

I had a debate - on one of the media site forums - with a guy about the Gambit movie. After Ryan Reynolds got redemption in Deadpool(the issues with X-Men/Wolverine and Green Lantern had nothing to do with Reynolds performances), I hoped the studio would be smart and give the Gambit role back to Taylor Kitsch, who did a great job in the Wolverine movie. The other guy agreed, but pointed out that Kitsch has a stigma on him now. Even though he would clearly do the role so much more justice than Tatum's no-talent ass, he won't even get fair consideration. The problem is Tatum - fairly or not - is an "A-lister", and Kitsch is now a "C-lister" at best. It has nothing to do with who can play the role better. Tatum is popular - Kitsch is not.

Snyder is now in Kitsch's situation. And neither of them are deserving of their current status.

Rumor is Wonder Woman 2 will take place in the past again, likely in the 1980's.

I personally LOVE the costumes they are using for the JL in the DCEU - especially Batman's!!

Agreed, it's always great to see the suit designers always trying to top the previous one.

General consensus - from what I have seen - is that Gonzalez's rumor reports turn out to be true only about 50% of the time. Patti Jenkins has been quoted that - even though nothing is official yet - she believes the sequel will be set in present-day time in the DCEU.

Is Jenkins 100% set to return yet?

If she is smart, she keeps it a period piece and far from the present day as long as she can until they make a movie that is both critically and commercially good.

EDIT - after further searching, it looks like that has changed and @Pomojema is most likely correct. It seems that Geoff Johns and the studio are planning to set it sometime in the past. They are not really giving any details on when it will be set other than confirming it won't be WW1, and they are saying it will be set in the US.
