If you haven't heard anything now, it means it probably won't. It's not a case of Kevin Spacey's diddling affecting All The Money In The World or the last season of House Of Cards.

I wonder how they are keeping it quiet. There are new allegations every day lately in Hollywood. Maybe that distraction is helping him. Typically the media wouldn't let up on unwanted sexual contact.

For one thing, it's on-camera, and he's made it clear that he regrets his past behavior - and not just because he got caught. I don't think his accuser was the one to bring it up.

I've no doubt that he truly regrets it and is wholly ashamed of his past behavior. It still happened and he has to deal with it. If it is something that is forgiven and in the past as far as his victim is concerned, then that is good to go.

So reviews are now coming in for Justice League. Looks like it's mixed bag and it will end up with a middle(neutral) score on RT for those that value that site(not me). For CB/SH/Sci-Fi movies, I ignore all reviews but Scott Medelson. He knows the CB background material very well. And he is unsurpassed in his knowledge of Hollywood and the film industry. He's a DC fan, but does not have fanboy blinders.

And, in cases like this, I don't read reviews until after seeing the movie. It helps me avoid prejudice. Plus, even with critics who try really hard not to include spoilers, the very act of talking about the movie inevitably leads to reveals.

I typically read or watch review after I've seen the film to make my own judgement. Next two films on my slate are JL and TLJ, obviously LOL

"If I’m bending over backward to be fair, it’s because A) Justice League plays like a messy TV pilot to a show I’d absolutely watch and B) a lot of my complaints revolve around perhaps necessary course corrections. Compare it to Batman Forever or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze. This is very much a product of Warner Bros./Time Warner Inc. trying to repair a crashing plane in mid-air."

    Comingsoon.net is mixed as well...

"None of that is enough to make Justice League an unqualified success, but it’s not a failure either. The tone is all over the place, the plot’s a mess and Batman should never be cracking jokes. On the other hand, watching these icons gather together to fight evil is a reward all its own and the set pieces are invigorating. Sure it’s six of one, half dozen of the other, but considering where we started, I’ll take it."

So, the consensus is not good, but fun of the 4 reviews that I have seen so far. Seems like something that I will wait for BluRay for. Especially when there is a lot of "It's fun" and "I'll take it" said as concessions to the film not being very good.

I am very glad that everyone seems to enjoy the 5 of them in action together.

From what I read in reviews it confirms my biggest fears. People are placating with a mediocre Justice League because BVS, MOS and SS were all divisive at best and utter trash at worst.

Just because it's better than those doesn't mean it's good or the quality we should accept for Justice League.

As a long time DC and Marvel comics fan I've had a love-hate relationship with the DCEU. However, one thing I've noticed with reviewers of comic book movies is sometimes they either never read a comic the movie is based on or they've not read enough. I was skimming the last page of this topic and the Comingsoon.net comment just made me cringe. "Batman should never be cracking jokes"? Seriously, he's done that before many a time albeit, I haven't watched the movie and don't know what context Bruce/Bats does it in the film and if it feels right.

Well here's the problem with that...you shouldn't HAVE to read comics to get the movies.
I almost exclusively read DC growing up with a little X-Men, Punisher and Thor sprinkled in.
I didn't need to know more to get the Marvel movies.
People shouldn't have to know these things for the movie to work...they should be little bonuses for comic readers.
Like in Homecoming when Peter is trapped...it's a tense moment that works perfectly within the context of the film but readers know exactly how significant it is.

As for the specific example of Batman, it's because of the Batman the VAST majority of people are familiar with. Keaton, Conroy, Bale and even Affleck in BVS. Almost 0 humor from their specific characters. The humor came from around them. The only "funny" Batman most people know is Clooney in Batman and Robin. That does not have a positive connotation with people.

This isn't what I'm saying, but I'll get to what I'm saying with the Batman statement from the Comingsoon.net article below.

Spider-man: Homecoming to me was one of the first problematic Marvel movies. It felt mediocre for a variety of reasons. The main one being it tried too hard to be new, fresh and relevant and lost much of what and who Spider-man is in the process. But this is beside the point as this is a DCEU topic. I just felt the need to vent a little about Homecoming.

But this is my point. Most people review these stories based off of other non-comic-pop culture sources or understanding. Still, I would argue Keaton's Batman cracked a joke or two, DCAU Batman most definitely cracked jokes, Bale's Batman not so much as the Nolan trilogy tried to hard to be gritty, dark and super serious, which isn't bad but it's what infected the current DCEU in its initial phase. However, the overall point is that the little remark filed as a soft complaint that Batman shouldn't crack jokes is false if one is more familiar with the character that is Batman as he has cracked jokes. I only pointed out the comics because it is the canonical source material of these movies. You, my friend, have pointed out far more sources that indicate the little quibble was unnecessary and far more uninformed than I even hinted at. That was my whole point.

The irony of this is staggering.
Change who Spiderman was? What? It was the most accurate to date. I really don't get this at all.

I feel you there with the Batman and jokes business.

I am not well-versed in the comics. I was never a Marvel fan until the Iron Man film and when that came out, I barely knew who he was. Today, I still don't read their comics, but I love the Marvel Cineverse. My #1 all-time favorite superhero has been Batman. Like many, many others, I love that he was an elite hero without the aid of superpowers. I do know a lot more about him than I do about Marvel.

I actually enjoyed Man of Steel despite the apocalyptic destruction on Metropolis and Supes breaking Zod's neck. I left that film with hope for the franchise. BvS left me feeling like they took about 5 steps backwards. How could they have arguably the two greatest most-recognized and most-loved superheroes in ALL of comics (across ALL brands) and put out something so mediocre? That Doomsday was absolutely HORRIBLE and Eisenberg as Luthor was even WORSE. When they went forward with Suicide Squad with an absolutely HORRIBLE take on Joker (not to mention most of the other "heroes"), it honestly felt like something that could have fit well in the CW Arrow/Flash universe. It killed all hope that I had for this cinematic universe. When JL started filming I started feeling good again until we started getting those dark and dreary character teaser posters. The first teaser had that same mediocre BvS feel for me as well. I still clung to hope because Batman and I really enjoy Affleck's Batman.

Wonder Woman was great and gave me a little hope again, but with the knowledge of Suicide Squad 2 and two Joker films still being on the horizon as well as these mediocre scores for JL, I have lost any faith that WB has any real grasp at what they are doing. For me, they have not earned the benefit of me going to see it first to get my own review. I have been burned twice already.

If there's a MCU or Homecoming topic elsewhere then I'm happy to nitpick in detail for you, but since this is a DCEU topic, to summarize:

I really feel they should've kept Andrew Garfield and just continued his Spiderman rather than forcing a new one into the MCU after developing an agreement with, what is Sony, to include him in Disney's Marvel Universe. Thus, they felt redoing his origin story was unnecessary and it left many things feeling absent in the character's motivations. Also, although I'm not a comic purists when it comes to the transition of the material to another medium, I resented the fact he is a teenager in Civil War and its aftermath and they are using that portion of Spiderman's story for Homecoming. In the comics Pete's an adult at this point and he had told Tony off to side with Cap for moral reasons. In the movie he's sort of this irresponsible, awkward, untrained, inexperienced teenager chasing after validation from Iron Man/Tony Stark. Everything just felt out of place.

I see what you did there. But my nitpick is from my knowledge of the character and not from a off the hip quibble about a small aspect of the character that exists with the core material of the character and even further in the pop-culture of the character.

They missed the reason Peter feels responsible as Spiderman with the absent of Uncle Ben's death. Instead, they replaced it with him needing to impress Tony Stark and thus make bad decisions because of that. I'm not saying Spidey's supposed to be perfect, he never was. I just felt something was lacking with his character because they took a short route. I don't see this as the same as that guy's comment about Bats joking when Bats has joked before.

They didn't replace it with that. They added onto it. Uncle Ben's death has been done so many times doing it again would seem pointless and repetitive beyond need.
Andrew Garfield was a terrible Peter Parker btw. Parker was a nerd and loser. Not the most handsome guy at school who was already cool.
He nailed the Spider-Man side but was way too cool for school as Peter.

But are we at a point where your nitpick is more important than others?

I get that you didn't care for Homecoming. Not saying you have to like it. Not all interpretations work for everyone.

    A nitpick is a nitpick.

I feel you. I'm more of a Superman fan and JLA fan. I like it when they're all together. I dislike it when fans pit Bats and Supes against one another or biased writers pit them against one another. I'm looking at Dark Knight Returns and you Frank Miller (which is what BvS was losely based off of).

I'm on the fence about JL, the movie.
I honestly believe they should just turn CW Arrow/Flash universe into their bread and butter. As much as CW annoys me when it gets hold of DC heroes and heroines, I would be willing to tolerate a TV DC universe.

With that said. I also didn't have too many problems with Man of Steel. Unlike purists, I didn't go crazy because Supes had to break Zod's neck.
However, I thought it was silly to turn Zod into Doomsday. That was a story they could've saved for another day for a Superman movie in and of itself. It was wasted on BvS. The Doomsday thing that is. Doomsday is supposed to be a monster and an ultra threat to Superman. He was wasted on that movie.

I don't have too many issues with Jared Leto's Joker. The one problem I have is that I feel he tried to channel Heath Ledger's Joker a bit too much. I agree about Eisenberg and I think they do too as they back tracked and said he was playing Alexander Luther rather than Lex soon after people started commenting on the Eisenberg casting and footage was released of him playing a Luther.

Other than Joker, I guess, and the standard setup for a plot (we have to close the portal or prevent the bad guy from coming through) I didn't have too many issues with Suicide Squad.

Well you've called attention to one of my problems with WB/DC/CW/Whowever else is in this many headed monster. They need to get a plan together and stick to it. Why do Joker films with another Joker outside the DCEU or any other stand alone films outside your connected universe then make statements like, "We won't put Superman, Batman or Wonder Woman in a Television universe full time (Supes is in Supergirl which is now attached to Flash/Arrowverse) because that will confuse people." No, find a path and stick to it. You started the path of a connected universe. Run with that and make it work.

So you can nitpick, but I can't and me calling out a frivolous nitpick is a no-no? C'mon man. I'm not understanding why you are defending the Comingsoon.net guy and contending so hard with my comment that some reviewers don't know what they're talking about when a character has original source material and they talk with "shoot-from-the-hip" knowledge.

I'm not going to condemn you for your view about Andrew Garfield's Peter Parker. I didn't get that from him, although I'm not saying those Spiderman movies are perfect. My reason for saying they should've just kept him and added him to the MCU is because they already did the origin story a second time with him after doing it with Toby Maquire.

No, I'm juxtaposing how silly it is for you to nitpick on something that wasn't even a point I was making while getting on people over their own nitpick. You are the one who started the Peter Parker nitpick not me. I just used the one scene to illustrate how to honor comic readers but not make the whole film a service to them. Then you went full nitpick in complete irony to you complaining about another person's nitpick.

And yet again you bring up how you are upset this person doesn't have a deep intimate knowledge of the character which brings me back to:
    He shouldn't have to.
It might just not work for him. That's not how he likes his Batman.

My whole diatribe on Parker was just to highlight this.
