With Episode VIII moving to May 2017 - is Spin Off #2 going to slate into the December slot? With Ep IX in May 2018?

I'm going to assume Spin Off 2 will be 2018 and Ep 9 in 2019. 1 movie per callendar year. A Marvel movie will probably take the Dec 2017 spot.

I guess it depends on whether or not Disney believes that Star Wars has as much legs as Marvel.

Marvel is currently doing multiple movies each year - AND six TV shows (Agent Carter and Agents of Shield on ABC and four new Netflix shows including Daredevil)

I would absolutely LOVE there to be an hourly R-rated Star Wars show on Netflix at some point. Star Wars: Underworld or something along those lines.

I think Marvel is dominating the action movies lately, star wars just has to wait it's turn.

Here's a bit about a possible rearrangement with the film schedule. I personally don't see it happening but who knows.

Rogue One comes out Dec. 2016 then EP viii comes out May 2017, EP ix May 2019-every 2 years for a Star Wars movie and the spinoffs will be I think every 2 years as well

Since Trank is gone, this movie is lucky if it keeps a December 2018 release date.

Probably the safest route for Disney would be to focus on one Star Wars release per year, then see if the performance of the spin-offs make them confident that multiple releases in the same year can work, or if they need the year-long downtime to create interest again. The history of Star Wars spin-offs is pretty much unremarkable, relegated to TV movies even when it was the hottest thing around.

This is assuming that the main movies do well and draw the crowds as they expect.

I'm totally with you on the Star Wars show as well. Live action preferably, well-funded, and adult enough to be enjoyable, but not necessarily needing the R rating.

Nah, it's way too early into pre-production for Trank's absence to have made a difference. Besides, Simon Kinberg is apparently the one writing that movie, and he's still in the game. At this point I think that they'll just get another director, have the Lucasfilm Story Group fill the new director in on what he missed, and release the movie in 2018.

On that note, I'd like to say that a post from Jedi-Bibliothek suggested that they're going with five Star Wars movies in five years, so the release date for this project is most likely still set for 2018.
