December Teaser?

    I keep hearing rumblings of a teaser trailer this month for Episode 9. JJ started filming TFA in March/April of 2014 and we got a teaser 8 ish months later in November. He started filming Episode 9 in August this year so if we got a teaser that would only be 5 months of production. It would make more sense for it to come out during Celebration as that lines up with JJ's previous timetable. I wonder if the “teaser” rumored in December is actually a Force for Change video. Thoughts?

    IMHO, it's too soon for a teaser trailer. At best we could be given some pictures. I doubt there will be more...

    I would love to see something like the first teaser for TFA. Nothing huge, just a title drop and something to say "We're still here! Get hyped!" The Solo failure left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth. I'd like something new to start getting hyped about. But we don't even have a title yet.

    I do think we're going to get something but nothing too major. I'm not even expecting anything close to the Thanksgiving weekend TFA teaser. A shot or two plus the title and that's it.

    I doubt that we will get a teaser trailer by the end of the month. We may get the title, but not a teaser trailer. Lucasfilm likes to hold information close to their chest. I think we will get the first trailer at Star Wars Celebration: Chicago. Right now, Disney will want to put their focus on their live-action films: Mary Poppins Returns and Dumbo and their Marvel properties.

    Do I need a teaser now NOT REALLY as it would be like 30 Seconds or so & wouldn’t actually tell us anything about ESP IX. & would probably generate a spew of YOUTUBE videos about how this has SAVED/RUINED STARWARS neither of which I would be interested in Watching. Now a title reveal or some BHS clips is probably more likely.
    However would I watch a Teasers for ESP IX absolutely I’m guess I just very good a waiting for stuff to come out in its own time with out forcing it out before it’s ready for release.

    I do believe a teaser sooner rather then later would be a very good idea. Get the Star Wars community talking about something new. Does it have to be December? No. Should it wait until Celebration? No.

    I would hope we would get something before celebration. That's why I was thinking maybe they use Force for Change to reveal the title and a little BTS then teaser at celebration.

    If we get a teaser this month (there are some rumors it’s coming on Christmas Day), I think it’ll just be a montage of important clips from the first eight films in the Skywalker saga with one (or a few) meaningful shot(s) from Episode IX and the title. I highly doubt we’ll get anything more than that, and even then, who knows if we’ll even get a teaser?

    Lucasfilm needs to give us some kind of Christmas present. Maybe not a trailer. But I would love to know the title. I really believe a title reveal is coming this month. And if there really is a teaser trailer coming...even better.

    Heard, (*) that it's meant to be a Christmas day (?), or around that time, special on the Disney channel of ''from a galaxy far far away'' behind the scenes thingy and some of it was going to be on Ep IX. That is maybe where we are going to get our first footage or stills from the new film. Enough to have people talking I guess.

    I think something could potentially drop today, tomorrow or Thursday. Tomorrow is the release date for another big Disney movie, Mary Poppins Returns. And if it's on Thursday? That would be one year to the day until the Episode 9 release. And some of the other big Disney movie trailer releases (Avengers, Captain Marvel) have had some time to breathe.

    One of the rumored dates was Christmas Day, which I suggested in another thread might be to coincide with the Disney Parks Christmas Celebration that ABC airs every year on Christmas morning. But ABC just showed a promo for the Disney Christmas Day Parade and said they’d have an exclusive look at Galaxy’s Edge during it, which basically rules out an Episode IX trailer dropping then.

    Unless the rumors about it coming tomorrow are true — which are HIGHLY unlikely, considering The Daily Express (a notoriously wrong British tabloid who often cites Mike Zeroh as a source) was one of the first papers to report on this rumored trailer beyond the Collider rumor — I’d say the odds of us getting actual footage this year are looking pretty slim.

    I believe he started filming in June.... I think it would make sense to drop something on par with that first teaser for TFA at least to just give us the title. I mean we won't have a Star wars film this December and they won't want the well to get too dry before giving us another taste.

    My thought for marketing are as follows

    December ? 2018 - 60 second Teaser or Title reveal
    Superbowl 2019 - 60 second teaser (if we only get a title reveal) or Trailer 1 (Mostly an expansion of what we see in in December)
    SW Celebration 2019 - Trailer 2
    October 2019 Monday Night Football - Trailer 3
    December 1 - 19 - TV spots 1-12

    this has roughly been the pattern for the last two films
