I accept the story grudgingly, but wouldn't call it fan fiction. I'm into the new universe, I like the characters but I dislike the heavy-handed and vague way the story of TFA is presented to us. I also think the third Death Star is slap to the face.

JJ is a good action director but the action is too heavy here and the plot sucks. Keep him away from the writer's room but throw him into every production meeting. Thats what I say.

 

Is clear to me that some people are using the phenomenon that is TFA to get hits, clickbait at finest, the Mary Sue thing, everybody wants a piece of TFA

 

I agree with him JJ is a hack.

 

Star wars isn't even an action film. People love star wars becuase of the characters not the action. It was a boneheaded move by JJ to focus on action more than story and its proof JJ has a superficial understanding of star wars.

 

I honestly couldn't care less what his opinion is, good or bad. He's an absolute moron.

 

So I guess we are going to get a new thread for every online no-name who bashes TFA, in some futile attempt to make all the people who loved this movie, backed up by an extraordinarily positive critical consensus, to abandon their enjoyment and appreciation for the film for an increasingly absurd and short-sighted list of inane gripes.

Stop wasting your time. It ain't gonna work.

 

I simply laugh when I see JJ hate. (even though I originally giggled at the Jar Jar Abrams name-calling early on)

People hate Lucas, they hate Abrams. Jesus (or insert any other religious prophet) himself could have resurrected or come to Earth and made it themselves and people would still act like they could do it better.

My hypothesis that I stick with, is anyone who hates TFA (or dislikes any original Star Wars trilogy) think that Fast and the Furious is the best series ever. LOL

Was it perfect? No. Was it mean to 'replace' the original trilogy? No. Was it meant to continue a great story and have and restore the magic, humor, adventure, and action mixture feeling for the audience that the original trilogy had? Yes. Did it do that? Yes.

If I were to begin to doubt that I didn't thoroughly enjoy the movie, if not LOVE it...then I'll remind myself that Patton Oswalt gave it a thumbs up too.

 

Wow that was ...weird. I've never seen fast and furious, but found TFA to be a fun yet very flawed movie. Not sure why you have to come up with stories in your head about people who don't like TFA. That's weird.

Why are you so mad and defensive? People are talking about the biggest film in a decade, discussing it's many flaws.

Why does that make you mad??

Some of you guys honestly sound defensive. Why??

Still in the "anger/denial" phases of Han being a loser dead beat dad in the film??

And guys even if you liked TFA, JJ just isn't a good writer/director/editor.

Even people who liked TFA are excited for rian Johnson.

Huh? So people who discuss the negative aspects of the film are doing it for...wait for it....lucrative clicks???

There are some great points in the article and the review.

Maybe some can look past the flaws, some if us can't.

No amount of clicks in the world can make TFA a great movie, with a great plot, etc.

Oh, and that's a pretty big movie site. Pretty sure their clicks are just fine.

What has Disney and their likable cast/ brand manager JJ unleashed?

You guys are literally getting upset and claiming conspiracy to explain away grounded reviews? Wow.

 

IMO, instead of one thread for every article that criticizes TFA, there should be just one consolidated thread discussing those articles, since they are just repeating the same arguments or are slight variations of the same criticism.

As for Devin Faraci, he actually gave an overall positive review of TFA (and his review was counted as fresh by rottentomatoes). He didn't like the plot but loved the characters.

 

LOL. When the last FatF came out, I saw some kids on my Facebook post link after link about it...(the series is just.....bad...I'd watch EP I-III 100 times over before watching more FatF) Then when E.VII was close to release, the same kids were posting the Memes that were essentially stating they had never seen any Star Wars films and didn't care...or that they thought SW was stupid. I saw the trend, and it became my hypothesis.

You say, 'fun but very flawed'....I have to question the extent of adverb usage...because it certainly isn't Jar Jar Binks flawed.

Haters gonna Hate....as they say...but the movie wouldn't still be setting records if it were that flawed...Most people I know have seen it 2-3 times already. I can't hardly remember the last time that happened.

So far, the only legitimate critiques I have seen of the film are by people who think it is a phenomenal film. Every time that I see a critique attempting to tear it apart, it becomes a comedy skit to me...My favorite critique so far is one I have seen stating that Rey is dressed to 'fancy' to be a scavenger XD

 

I accept negative reviews. What I don't accept is grounding reviews. TFA is for sure a good movie and it's so called flaws are tottaly depending on everyone's taste. Most of them are debatable and both sides can have their points. That is why people are defending TFA against the "why this" and "why the other" voices...

And about the haters, expressing an opinion is not "I hate JJ, he is a shitty director, he ruins everything, TFA is garbage". Put some arguments in so that we can have a debate...
