I know that Boba Fett was a bounty hunter, helped The Empire to capture and freeze Han Solo and tried to kill Luke. But do you think that he deserved to be eaten by a Saarlac? After all, I couldn't imagine a worse death for any living creature. A thousand years of suffer and pain and finally eat by the creature. What a terrible end, I would never wish such a cruel death even to my worst enemy. I would have preferred something like a duel between Han and Boba, maybe over the floating platform and after Jabba's death. After all, Jango Fett died after a duel with Mace Windu, so why not a blaster duel between Boba and Han? Boba could have died with honor, like a true Mandalorian. Please note that I don't blame the plot movie at all, it is still a masterpiece that I like to watch it sometimes.

Yes, he needed better ending!!! Legends gave him a proper ending, but he deserved to have a full showing as a Mandalorian!

Boba is just a side character (as Phasma) with some importance to the story.

His death looks I little silly in ROTJ but I always thought it was ok for a side character.

The problem is that fans always want a superdramatic climax death to their favorites charaters. Same happened with Ackbar in TLJ, and people complained.

I agree that Boba isn't that important, but I find his death in RotJ too funny and lame. Ackbar had a "superdramatic climax death" that had real punch and importance. Boba Fett's death, by contrast, was a joke. It doesn't matter to the bigger picture, but I count Fett's fall as a poor descision and a missed opportunity.

Yes. As I said it was a silly death.

But jokes and silly scenes (or comic reliefs) is the tune of the entire movie, except the throne room scenes.

In my opinion, yes. I loved Boba Fett. He was an amazing character. I hope we see more of him in the future, but his death was not the one we all think he should have had. He was hit by a blind Han Solo and fell into the Sarlac pit, as his jetpack had been hit by Solo’s staff, i think it was a staff. I wish his death was more noble or dramatic. It is what it is. I guess Lucas just wanted to kill him off. Also, I know that people think that he survived the pit or something, I don’t know if this is true, but I hope so.

Nah. He was just some hired thug in a cool outfit. He went out like a chump. It was fitting. He doesn’t ‘deserve better’ because the fans read more than was intended.

The essence of Star Wars fans.

Creators: Oh this is cool, lets use it in the background.

Fans: OMG WHAT A WASTE HOW COULD YOU!!!

Boba Fett is largely the creation of the fans imagination.

Think about how much impact Joe Johnston had in the SW universe with a helmet design.
It's basically trope in Star Wars. "Cool character go splat"

I love the whole Mandolorian concept in Star Wars. The clans, the armor, and yes the amazing helmets. Its just a cool Star Wars feature. And we understand the Mandolorians a little better in the D+ series. At least I do.

I’m pretty sure that GL says on the audio commentary that he would have made Boba’s death a bigger event if he had realized how important Boba would become.

I heard a rumor that Boba could be back in The Mandalorian season 2. I mean, everyone else who fell down a pit already came back (Maul, Palpatine, and Luke’s saber) - so I guess, why not?

I guess when you consider the plethora of cool looking characters in Star Wars, it's no surprise that some fan favorites ended up being surprise hits.

I think it's at least a little pessimistic to say that the characters are made to sell toys, but that's at least partially accurate. So, you have all these cool looking characters ranging from all aspects-sneaky and creepy hood-wearing Jawas, big monsters like the rancor, tough guy gamorreans...

I mean, in a way the other ESB bounty hunters are sort of the anti-Boba Fett in that there are still some really cool designs but get far less love.
IG-88 is a fun tall lanky robot, and Zuckuss is a bugman. Bossk is a freaking dinosaur person. Sure Fett got a bit more screentime (and maybe that's all it took), but any one of those could've just as easily been the fan favorite.

But they weren't- Fett was. Makes me kinda wonder if Lucas had any idea at all how much the fandom would like Fett.

As a DM in an ongoing D&D campaign, I can kind of attest to that. You can spend weeks designing an NPC for your players to enjoy, only to have him totally flat in comparison to Gleepgork the halfling wizard grandmother that your players fell in love with and have no idea that you improvised her on the spot.

There's more to it than that. Both his actual actor in his costume and his voice actor did a really good job conveying what sort of dangerous person Boba Fett was in The Empire Strikes Back.

To be honest, it's how kiddy-like Boba goes out- he falls down into a pit which burps after eating him. It's such a contrast to his dangerous attitude. Also, it's probably the most disgraceful death (or non-death if we count Legends and maybe The Mandalorian) for a Star Wars character. Boba Fett is STILL the only character to make Vader afraid or intimidated.
