I DO know that the shot at the end where she's standing with BB8 was photoshopped from another scene, which was puzzling.

I have to say, if they could 'computerise' Carrie to give Leia more scenes then surely they could have 'computerised' Rey's clothes... Some of the Kylo scenes from TFA were shot without the mask, which was digitally restored post production, and I believe Rey's hood was also digitally 'put on' in the Acht To scenes.

One of them - can't remember whether it was Chris or JJ - said they designed Rey's outfit to look like Leia's costume from ANH, hence the white hood.

Of course they COULD have, but that would be at the expense of other things. With unlimited budget and time, they could literally do anything, but making movies is a constant struggle for compromizes. It saved everyone a lot of time and money to just change Rey's constume back to TFA than to spend resources changing the shot they already had.

Well, they certainly spent resources doing a lot of reshoots!:p

Of course, when they had too, they spent resources. When they could avoid doing so by something as simple as selecting to right costume, then they opted for that fix to the problem at hand.

I still have a quiet snigger at Adam Driver having to do one scene in his own closet...

Phoning in overdubs is very commonplace and a closet can be a very good, controlled recording space. Anthony Daniels have done this loads of times for C3PO in his career, for example. (I believe I've read about James Earl Jones doing the same, too, for Vader).

That said, Adam Driver being in the closet will never not be funny, hurr hurr hurr. John Oliver's pining for Driver is some of the funnies moments on the internet!

Would you mind posting that particular John Oliver occurrence?

Yeah and they even did that as far back as ROTS.

Oh, it happens in several Last Week Tonight with John Oliver videos over the last few years. I don't have a list of which ones, though. JO has a few such banter sequences with various actors; George Clooney & John Cena comes to mind, in addition to Adam Driver.

The sketch, or whatever you call it, is that Oliver starts ranting about how gorgeous Driver is (in a quite agressive manner), and then Driver somehow "hears" him and Zoom-joins the show to berate Oliver "live". It's quite funny. With Cloony, the sketch is that whenever Oliver snaps his fingers, he magically turns on Clooney's Zoom-camera and gets berated by Clooney for bothereing him yet again. That kind of stuff.

I always liked Driver's SNL skits as Kylo Ren; I got the impression he really liked playing the character.
