    I mean, it's a possibility in canon now. I remember hearing that Luke used a spare crystal lying around Obi-wan's old house on Tattooine between ESB and ROTJ and so he built his saber literally before he entered Jabba's palace:



    With Obi-wan being so close to Qui-Gon, I wouldnt think it's shocking to keep his green crystal as a memorium of sorts and I'm sure Kenobi told luke about HIS master at the least at some point and crystals were probably also really hard to come by regardless
    .

    As the video says - we don't kjnow if thats Luke completeing his lightsaber or just making some adjustments. Logically, it would make sense that he would test it a bit first.

    if you look carefully, he seems to be building the saber's final touches and the light turns from red to green.

    Or he could be making some adjustments to the ignition and the light means its funcational AGAIN. We can't tell if he is finishing building it, or finishing some adjustment/fixes to it. As I said, it would seem more logical to me is adjusting/fixing it as one would want to test a brand new weapon before going into battle. What if he did something wrong and everytime the blade hits something it shuts off - probably good to test and know that before going into a fight.

    I can also tell you as a Kendo player and Iaidoist that weapons all have different feels and balances. At this point luke had only used 1 lightsaber during his life time and the odds that this one, which looks completely different, had the same weight, balance, grip etc... is basically zero. Taking some time to learn how his new weapon feels would be a smart thing to do before going intoa full on battle.

    The main SW book can't stay between Ep4 and 5 forever. There has to be a pre-ROTJ run at some point. The saber would probably be a factor there . . . and maybe some Bothans.

    They have just started an story arc on Yoda pre episode 1 in the main series of comics, issue 26! It is a good read you should check it out :) They will definitely go on to jump around the timeline as they already have with shattered empire, the c3po comic, Poe Dameron, alongside the current arc of the main Star Wars series! All of them are very good and would recommend to everyone, they are canon too :eek:

    They could stay there for a very long time. They are 20 something issues in, and they could argue that only a month or so has passed.

    if ESB takes place 3 years after ANH, that have 1095 days to work with. You can have multiple issues take place during each day, and even tell concurrent stories.

    So you could have thousands of issues before running out of time.

    In the first Revenge of the Jedi draft from June 1981, Luke stayed at an Inn on Tatooine (courtesy of a few Jawas) where he waited for the return of Artoo and Threepio that had apparently been told to visit Kenobi's hut and get a few things from there, because they return with a box full of lightsaber building materials.

    Although the location in ROJ then changed to a cave (nevertheless deleted not to spoil the surprise moment when Artoo ejected Luke's new lightsaber), I'm certain that Artoo and Threepio still had been to Kenobi's old hut...

    You aren’t seriously suggesting the flagship title would actually cancel its run without ever leaving this period though, right? Just because it’s mathematically possible doesn’t mean they’d really do that.

    I know, but the hinged on the idea that they'll run out of time bewteen ANH and ESB - I'm just pointing out they could literally make thousands of issues before that happens

    Depends. How long will the series go? If it only goes 100 issues.....ya maybe.

    Honestly, I think its more likely that we get a limited series that fills in the ESB/RotJ gap. The space between ESB and RotJ is shorter and would appear to be much more focused then the time between ANH and ESB.

    ESB ends with Han taken, Lando and Chewie going to chase him down. It's not really realistic that Luke & Leia are going to get side tracked with other things or that Lando and Chewie would take a break from chasing Fett. Compare to ANH-ESB, we're dealing with 3 years a much more open set up. We know Han stays with the Rebels and becomes a General. Luke becomes a commander and forms/joins Rogue Squadron. Other then that.........
